September 2013 sleevers..Requesting sleeve buddies :)

Ive been having last minute thoughts lately. In fact the past 2 nights Ive been spending the nights tossing and turning. I read peoples comments about them never regretting their decision and if only they would of done it when they were younger. That does give me hope!! I feel confident however I need to stay motivated. This surgery is not going to make me skinny over night..my bad habits and failed diets can still happen with my stomach cut 85%. I can still gain weight..if that's the case theN why even put my body through such a shock..why endure so much pain if I can still fail? Ive beeN mentally working on my lifestyle its been 6 good months and Ive been able to lose a lot on my own. I know I can continue after surgery..its just hard when my friends tell me..."are you sure about this? Look at what you've done on ur own"? Has anyone felt this way? Please comment thanks.

I think it's normal to doubt. I've had some, but I know where I want to be verses where every other fail has put me. if your having huge doubts, then maybe call the Dr office & talk with someone. my Dr has a bunch of his staff who have went through this same surgery. they are huge support. they have geared me up for friends & family being nay sayers, along with people who think they know me. On of the staff told me when my head goes into doubt, to take focus away from it, read, a puzzle, something even if its the middle of the night. I haven't needed it yet, but it's good advise. find something to focus on where you know yourself & if you know your not going to sleep soon it's better than tossing & turning. Good Luck. hope you can find resolve. :)

JodiAnn, my surgery is one week away and I'm having those same feelings on and off. I have been on pre-surgery diet for a week now and lost 6 lbs. so I feel I wish I could just do it on my own. Then I come back to reality and realize how many times I did it on my own and lost and gained weight back. I know at times I can do it on my own, but if I go to a restaurant I love, or an amusement park, or get stressed out I will fail. I Know I need this tool to help me; and as scary as it it, I know it will be ok. We can do this!! :)

My surgery is Sept. 4th!! Yikes!! Nervous' date=' but excited! Started my pre op diet a week ago and lost 6 lbs. One more week!! Had headaches for the first 3 days, but none since, actually less than usual. I wish I could eat like this rather than have surgery, but I know I can't long term. Definitely realizing what triggers my eating while on this diet, which is good :) I wish you all the best![/quote']

Yes that is always good! Congrats Hun! Keep us updated! I wish you the best of luck!

Me too! I think about how much Ive failed and gained! I'm no longer thinking negative! I want this more than anything. I don't want to be that 400 pound lady at 45 wishing I had done something when I was young. Yes we can do this!!!!

My surgery date is Sept 2nd!!! Just started my liquid diet today, and I must say that so far so good! I was pretty nervous about it, but for now, it seems doable. I did cut out my caffeine, alcohol, and sugar intake about 2 weeks ago, so I think it helped that I didnt cut everything at once. Hopefully the next few days keep going smoothly!

Also, just wanted to add the following items to bring to the hospital, other than the gas-x strips and pillow, which are a great call:

1. Chap stick

2. sleeping mask

3. Baby wipes

Good luck everybody!!!

Mine is Sept 12th. Just started my 2wk pre-op today. I'm trying to find ways to make my shakes (especially the ones made with water) taste better. I stopped caffine a cpl wks ago, also most sugar. I did eat a chocolate bar last night. Lol! Im an excited nervous for this huge step in my life. I'm glad I have my hubby & a lot of family support.

Found out today insurance approved (after 6 mo nutrition/dr visit requirement). I've been weaning off caffeine the last 6 months, no carbonation for two weeks. Start Pre op on Sunday (full liquids for two weeks plus Protein shakes) and surg on 16th! I've been in a medically surprised weight loss program for almost two years...I've been putting in much of the post-surg work with that without even knowing it. Ready for a new life and new lifestyle! I realized I've wanted to commit as little as possible to necessary changes these last few years, but reap the maximum benefits. Doesn't work! 100% commitment to new ways of eating and activity.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
