Okay so I think I'll be at 300 lbs on surgery day. I'm a size 24 5'5" tall and was wondering how long did it take to get into a size 14?? I know I'm doing this for my health and lifelong lifestyle change but I just wanna take a few minutes out to fantasize about a size 14 red dress.

I'm down to 193 and I started at 275 and wear a 14-16 depending on the store.

I think it differs so much depending on the person's body shape and such...I was about 270 surgery day and now weigh about 223 (only 5'2" tall)...one of my frustrations is that I don't think I have moved down much in clothing size...just one size--from a 22 to a 20--with 45 lbs....at this rate, even when I am at my goal weight I will just be down to a size 16...oh well, if I am healthy, I don't care

During my previous weight loss I found that at higher weights it took 35 pounds or so to drop a size, but as I got smaller, the weight loss it took to drop a size got smaller. You'll probably get to a smaller size than you think. Congratulations on your hard work!

It does depend so much on body type, where you lose weight and also on the style of the garment in question. I started at 310 and am 5'7"...but was a size 20...I'm now down to 245 and am pretty squarely a 16w...in some things that have a little stretch, I can be a 0x...I would guesstimate that I would be in a 14 (not Women's) in another 25-30 pounds.

That said, I made a post on her the other day about a body-hugging dress that I just bought in a size 12 that I think is going to look pretty darn good in another 10 pounds, so there you go!

But how long did it take "average" I know everyone is different. I'm looking to hit the weights as soon as it is allowed and I'm starting to do some yoga classes at the gym.

I'm a teeny smidge under 5'5" and was 298 as of 11/26/12. Surgery was 12/10/12 and I now weigh about 212. I'm a solid 16 right now in pants, but can fit into some size L and 14 dresses, though sometimes snuggly. I figure I'll be in a 14 pant in about 15-20lbs at most, which will likely take me about 3 months, so about a year from my surgery date. I, however, lose on the slow side. Steadily, but slowly

I too am 5'2" starting weight270. I am down 52 lbs but also haven't seen much change in clothing size and have been feeling frustrated (and a little jipped) lol. But it's good to know I'm not alone in my results. I just keep doing what I'm supposed to and wait to reach my goal. I'm a little more than a third there and that's more than i. Could ever say before.

I also think that sometimes you're losing weight but your body isn't quite keeping up with the changes and then all of a sudden you get a lot smaller. This is purely anecdotal of course, but I notice that's how comments work. I've been losing steadily for a while now and haven't had any comments from people. This past week I've been getting multiple comments every day about how "skinny" I'm looking, and I've had to put away 3 pairs of size 18 work trousers because I have saggy bottom going on. It's like my body has finally caught up with the last 20-30lbs I've lost!

Ok so I got out of the shower yesterday and grabbed my favorite towel... It's orange and bigger than my other towels... Well for the first time I could actually wrap it around me and not have parts(mostly belly) peeping out of it! I was very thrilled and tho its not technically " clothes" I'm counting it!! Lol.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
