August 26th is the Date! Nervous Excited scared... mixed emotions

Recommended Posts

Hello All. My name is Kasie I'm new to this all. My Dr is Dr. Kim from Colleyville, Tx. Im scared, worried, excited, happy. LOL i'm just full of mixed emotions. I start my pre-op liquid diet on the 19th. I have to do the Bariessentials shakes. I am ready for a new life and for this amazing opportunity of a tool that will be given to me I know its not going to be easy but I'm ready for the journey. I have a couple of questions Is pickle pops ok? They are 5 calories 2g carbs and 0 sugar. I love pickles and I could eat these Popsicles all day. Any tips, motivation or anything would help tremendously!! I have learned a lot from these forums and its also well kinda eased my nervousness lol. I know to leave it all in Gods hands. TIA

My guess would be the sodium you would want to look out for. I am starting pre op diet tomorrow (it is a mix of Protein Shakes and two small meals) and my surgery date is the 27th. I am nervous and excited!

I don't know your requirements but my pre-op diet says I can have any liquid that is less than 15 calories per serving. I'm assuming a pickle pop is just pickle juice(?). I've never heard of them. Sounds interesting...

I've lost 10lbs just by not drinking any calories and lowering my carbs... Only pre op I have to really do is Clear Liquids after 1pm on Sunday...

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
