I am three months out and like food just fine. It gets easier I promise. The first 6 weeks or so is the roughest. Now I can can eat just about anything in small portions. Hang in there.

I was discussing this very subject with my husband this afternoon. I am 8 weeks post-op and I am rarely hungry. I basically eat because I know I am suppose to. When I do get excited about eating something or going out to eat, I get full so fast that eating is over before I start to enjoy it. But saying all of this, I am proud that the surgery is doing what it is suppose to do for me. I have been at a stall for about a month and want to see the scale move again but all in all I am happy with my decision.

Please remember you are in the "GOLDEN" time with WLS. Your tummy is probably still swollen. Make sure you get your liquids and Protein and you are good. Your food taste will come back, in the mean time you should be losing lots of fat, you can get to goal quicker by being on track. Its when people go off track and it takes awhile to get back. ( off track I'm meaning eating slider foods, drinking alcohol, eating white carbs ect.) Hope this makes sense. Good Luck Linda

Yes. I am two years out and enjoy food and feel hunger. Still have the restriction to help me avoid overeating, but I do enjoy my old favorites. :)

I'm not sure when my taste became normal again but food does taste good as it always has. I become full quick and have great restriction at almost 1 yr post op.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
