Post Op 5 days & hurting & worried. Please Help!

Recommended Posts

I had single incision done on Aug 6th. I was instructed to be on a clear liquid diet for 7 days, I was doing fine til yesterday which was a loooong day of traveling home. I 1st felt a little lite headed. It felt as though I haven't eaten enough to sustain me. I'm afraid to eat or drink anything unless it's clear. More so because of harm I maybe doing to my new stomach. Single incision is done through the belly button and I'm verrrry sore today but it maybe due to tightening my stomach muscles for 3 hrs during flight as I was freezing my incision area is sore which is probably normal. Today I feel like my stomach is in knotts and cramps when drinking & stomach is the most sore it has been so far I feel weak and would like to drink Protein Shakes I had pre op. Please give me your feed back on your experience.

The best thing to do is call your surgeon..

We really are not trained to ok you to move on to full liquids.

Did the surgeon day you can buy Protein mixes that you could mix with watered down juices??

Oh and unflavored Protein powder to your broth??

newmeby50

sorry you are having problems/weak et al :(

many people find it more "comfortable"/easier to drink liquids at room temperature this early in the game

easier on tummy

thats the extent of my words of wisdom for now

good luck

feel better

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
