This is EXACTLY what I am feeling... 5 weeks post op today and I could absolutely graze on food all day b/c when I do eat solids, I feel "full"/tight long before my body says it has had enough nutrition! I'm struggling with this a lot b/c it's making me want to eat snack foods... I use MyFitnessPal religiously, I am able to eat some moist dense Proteins, and I get my Protein in each day. I DO notice that after I eat solids, I don't want to DRINK for a LONG time and maybe if I could get my fluids up, I wouldn't feel hungry. I always feel like I am on a sugar "low" and fluids really bother my stomach, especially plain Water. I do take a prescription acid reducer each day, but I just have to learn how to set up a daily eating routine that works for me... thanks for all the good advice here!

If plain Water bothers you post-op (does for me) try either MiO or Crystal Light. I could not do CL as it is too sweet now, but MiO can be slowly brought up to taste. It has been my life saver as plain water just won't go down.

I too have a problem with plain Water. Since artificial sweeteners bother me I add lemon to my water and that's how I drink it. Just another option.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
