Yes, rice is a common problem food. I can't eat just plain white rice, brown is iffy.

I can do sushi though, esp. nigiri(sp?). I think it's the proportion of rice to the fish that makes it work. Along with a little soy sauce.

Sushi is hit and miss for you. Typically I can get down one tuna roll but this week I tried another type of roll and PB'd it up. I would try it but eat it very slowly.

Sushi is one of the things that really worried me; knowing or thinking I'd have to give it up all together. Knowing this, I 'tested' sushi made with 'soy paper' instead of with seaweed (which would be horrible going down). Also, just ask your sushi chef if they can make it with very little rice - if any at all! Trust me, the taste is still delicious!:hungry:

hi,

i can eat sushi with no problems as of yet...especially if the pieces are small. i just have to make myself dissolve it as much as possible before i swallow it. and, i have to eat slow. i can't go to a sushi restaurant when i'm starving!!

cutiern:D

thanks for the info - i am realizing as i read more of this site, that the answer is never yes or no, it's more of a 'think it through and find the way it will work for me'!

appreciate the feedback,

ella

This was one of my biggest worries too (what does that say about me???). Would I be able to eat sushi (and scuba dive was the other worry).

I have been banded almost 2 months and tried shashimi first -- that was a hit (phew!) Last week I tried a sushi roll and was able to eat 5 pieces and I was stuffed. I can say sushi is MUCH CHEAPER now that I am banded. From now on I will strategically pick the one roll I want most! I like it with soy paper too.

Just remember to eat slow, chew, chew, chew and enjoy.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
