I feel SO blessed, if I tell you what my surgery is costing me I'm afraid you would all hate me! I have it done Monday and can hardly wait. Finished all the precert stuff today and paid the hospital up front ALL $50 of my out of pocket expense. Whoops... please don't hate me. I am so proud of you all figuring out ways to pay for yours. If I had to self pay I would never be able to. I work at the hospital and have their insurance and one of the benefits for employees is maximum expense of $50. I thank GOD everyday. My son want to have the surgery also and his insurance won't pay, so for right now we are just trying to save enough to get it done someday.

well at first my surgery was going to be paid for by cleaning houses . ( I am self pay ) I picked up 6 houses really quickly. We own our own concrete company and my husband picked up this ridicoulous job that is paying VERY WELL . the profits from that job along are going to pay for my surgery .

So once i found out about that i quit cleaning houses LOL

Now im just waiting for this job to finish which should be next week barring no more weather delays.

Im looking at surgery now the middle of Feb. It was suppose to get done this week actually but the job is delayed. Everyone else put in what their surgery cost , after reading more i guess i will too . LOL total with pre op testing ( I have no health insurance) its going to be right around $13,000 in the USA in Texas

So here's hoping

Mindy

I am paying for my surgery with a 401 K loan. At least I will be paying myself the interest. My surgery will be Jan 31 in Houston. The cost is 13,000.00 and I am convinced that it will be worth every penny. I consider myself very lucky that I can afford to do this on my own. It's shame that we have to put a price on our health.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
