I would have to guess that sharing a life changing event is unifying. I feel this band has certainly changes my life and I enjoy sharing that experience with others.

We did a really significant and brave thing to ourselves and I love knowing that ya'll are out there. Who else can really understand the details of our daily experiences before and after banding.........

I see this site as my support group. I also love to research the net and other threads to get good tips and like to post them on Lower Bmi thread so I have a place to refer to all I find more conveniently as well as share.

My friend is having gastric bypass and had to take six months of classes to learn how to deal with the mental stuff.

I see this group as doing the same thing for me. It really helps to know you are not going through things alone.

I love this forum. I visit every day, it really kind of helps keep me in touch with the reality of living with the band.

It is a great resource for questions and other little facts about being a bandster that months of pre-research didn't give me.

The warmth and friendliness of the other posters is just so wonderful and encouraging.

Its just a nice feeling to connect with others who face the same daily challenges and choices.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
