Lifting Forums/Blogs etc?

Recommended Posts

So I have been looking around researching different information sources on lifting specifically relating women and what are some of the goals, timeline, workout plan etc., that I can aspire to.

Holy Crap there is a lot of information out there and everyone and their mom seems to have a differing opinion. So I thought I would ask you guys! What are some of the forums/blogs/website you follow?

I honestly am not sure what I am looking for. All I know is that I love lifting weights and I never thought I would and want to learn more!

I don't know about any sites specifically for women, but I know what you mean about all of the differing opinions out there. I think some people tend to over-complicate the topic of lifting and the involved nutrition. Basically it seems they are splitting hairs constantly or trying to have a pissing contest. It's actually often kind of funny and entertaining to watch and read that stuff. Anyway, I think it's great that you love lifting weights and want to learn more! Just take everything you read/hear with a grain of salt and/or consider your source and you'll be fine. Example: If there's some lady on a site that thinks she knows all about abs and getting ripped and such......but she doesn't have any personal proof or doesn't look the part........you may want to keep searching for some info and listen to people who at least LOOK like they know what they are talking about. :D

I like t-nation.com, although it is more of a guy site. There are a lot of good free articles. Even though it is targeted at guys, I am sure you will find a lot here that applies to lifting in general.

I like reddit a lot, they have a ton of subreddits for this kind of thing. reddit.com/r/fitness, reddit.com/r/loseit, and reddit.com/r/bodybuilding/. There is a FAQ in the bodybuilding subreddit with all kinds of useful info. Not sure they have anything specific to women though.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
