Pre op liquid diet

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I was wondering how much weight you all lost during your liquid pre op diet? My insurance does not require one but they do require me to loose about 15 pounds and I've only lost 5. I have an upcoming appointment with the surgeon in a month & thought that I could do a liquid diet 2 weeks prior to that appt to hopefully shed the last 10 pounds...

Any thoughts or recommendations?

I've been trying my best to eat healthier and use myfitnrsspal and I walk/hike at least 2-3 times per week. But it seems like I'm just maintaining my current weight, I'll loose a pound then the following week gain the same pound back.... It's frustrating.

I just bought me the Isopure powder Protein.

It is day 2 of my liver reduction diet. I'm finding it very easy. I'm full and not craving. I have 3 Protein shakes a day (breakfast, lunch, dinner). I then have sugar free Jello, and sugar free Popsicles, and my chicken and beef bullion. Then I have a half of cup of a green vegetable.

I lost 1lb since Friday. Not bad for day 2..

Hope this helps.

:-)

I lost 16 lbs in two weeks on my pre-op diet. My diet was not a liquid diet. I kept calories under 1000 calories per day and got at least 90 g of Protein per day. NO carb-rich, sugary, or fried foods permitted.

I lost exactly 10 pounds, I had 3 Protein drinks per day, broth, sugar free ice pops and lots of Vitamin Water Zero.

Then put on 7 pounds from all the IV fluids in the hospital. Lost them since being home though...whew!

I'm doing all that already, except I'm eating 1,200 cals per day and with just tht it's a huge struggle because I'm craving sweets in the PM.

It's whey Protein by body fortress I got it at Walmart they were only 16 bucks for a 31oz jar. I mix the chocolate with 8oz of coffee in the morning with sf hazelnut creamer.. It's like a cafe mocha. And then I make a iced one in the afternoon.

Me personally I have never been able to lose on a 1,200 calorie diet. And I should be able to, because I am 5'6 and started pre-op at 230. It usually takes me forever to lose 2 lbs. My pre-op is 100 calories with only Protein shakes and vegetable Soup. Most days i'm at 800-900 calories. Within the first week, I lost 6 lbs. I kept Protein to 70% of calories, carbs and fats at 15%each. For me, unless I cut carbs to near or below 50 gns a day, I can't lose and I start craving sweets.

I hope that helps.

For me, the ones that work are Premier Protein from Sams/Costco, Syntrax Mint chocolate Chip, and Cytosport/Muscle Milk light.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
