Thank God for Chris Christy

Recommended Posts

Thank God for Chris Christy and his new lapband. Finally we will have a celebrity spokesperson in a few years to speak out against the lapband and perhaps start the class action lawsuit once his band acts up. And you know its inevitable it will do something- slip, erode, not work, etc. Lets see how this all unfolds.....

Well, I know what you're getting at, but I do wish him well with it anyway. I have other friends who have had the lap band & they haven't encountered any problems & some were done years & years ago. I guess it just depends on the person. I just pictured that poor man exploding one day & he has young children....I wish him the best.

I always assumed that it was the lobbyist of the band that got to him... Gotta revive a failing product.

LOL!

I have wondered if he chose the lapband because it's not an anatomically altering surgery like VSG or GBP--I think his spokespeople even touted how it's "reversible." That might make sense, depending on what his political aspirations are. Plus he didn't want to be away from his political duties for long and it is the shortest recovery time. However, I understand what you are saying and when I heard that's what he chose, I was wondering if anyone counseled him on VSG as an option.

I wonder the same thing.

I wonder about that too. I really do feel sorry for him because many people are watching him and as many of us know it didnt work. After everything I have gone through with my lapband, the leaks the constant pain and the port being put in wrong (xrays showed that if I didnt have leaks then it would have cracked soon) well I just wonder when the lapband will be pulled of the market. Many doctors refuse to do the lapband surgery any more. Boy do I wish I was told that before my first surgery!

I went to two diff weight loss centers before I decided which one to go with (even tho I knew I wanted the sleeve) & both strongly discouraged the band. So I think slowly but surely, everyone is getting on board but hopefully he won't have any problems because there are many just waiting for that poor man to fail! I'm sorry for all those that have had issues. I'm sure they weren't fun at all & then be brave enough to be sleeved after all that! God bless you all!

Nursebarbie, I meant no disrespect with my original response to your post either...hope you could tell that.

Absolutely! No worries. I just feel so passionate about getting this band off the market. We need a voice and maybe he could be it. So many suffer because of the band. He seems passionate and compassionate and would be wonderful in this role. But I am not praying for his failure either.

My surgeon, who does a lot of bands (they are extremely popular in Australia) actually told me the bands slip because the band patients lose weight. He said "of course they don't listen if I tell them the risk!" He told me I did "the right thing" by getting the sleeve. Makes you wonder...

Mauro, on The Cake Boss, had Lap Band surgery too recently. He's not Chris Christie, but it is interesting watching it all unfold as we watch.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
