I'm only 8 weeks but almost 8 months post op, my restriction at first was just me trying to get as much food in because of an appetite. Now for three last week my restriction had increased I'm sick and fluids like our liquid diet before hand is what I'm at. I heard most women Auer a baby with sleeve lose 90 percent within the first six weeks. So far I'm with a 4 lbs bounce. And that's 8 weeks. I honestly think you'll be fine. I plan on best feeding and I usually drop a significant amount of weight just because of that. Don't worry.

It's probably your system changing getting ready to be able to conceive! Yay!

It took is 3 years to get pregnant I have PCOS I went through all of these "top" doctors ended up doing Accupuncture & even though I only had one child, I got pregnant w/twins. Our bodies are crazy! But he's my little Angel & I guess I'm really not ready to go through all that again, it was a very rough pregnancy.

I am pretty chunky again at 9 months I have gained 60!!! Two more weeks to go!!! 39 weeks on Wednesday. I really hate this weight gain, but it seems like I have gained the most out of everyone!!! I can eat a lot more...but it doesn't justify 60!!! I will just have to see what happens after she comes out, but I am not stressing about the weight...I have a baby...my first on the way... Ummmmmm that is stressful enough!!!!

My surgeon told me if I gained too much weight to go back on my post op diet & start over, that way it will fall off!

This is my biggest fear. I am beginning to love "me." There is nothing more than I want than to have a baby, however I am so scared to go back where I started! Any success stories out there?

Honestly ladies based on what I'm experiencing I don't know how I could gain even half of my weight with my stomach not giving, nausea, and just feeling over all blah. With blood volume increase, uterus, baby, possible Water weight I would suspect 25 to 30 lbs. Each baby I've had previously was 30 to 35lb gain. I'm pregnant too early, however my cravings have been much more manageable then before the surgery. I've been bouncing between 198 & 204 I've also had bowel issues due to Zofran, lost 3 lbs after a bowel movement. I love my new me, I hate that my energy is gone, I hate being sick. But I'm grateful for a fertility treatment free conception and miracle baby. I think in the long run as long as we are aware of what we eat we will be fine. I've had my days but I realize I'm not consuming my liquid. So I'm always tweaking but we have been through more difficult times than pregnancy no matter what you gain, after the first week of delivery just assume you will lose 15 lbs right away. Then as your uterus and blood volume decrease more weight loss. So you will for sure lose that weight. :) I don't worry, because I'm more concerned about getting my baby his/her needs met, my weight will come back off, just eating right and exercise!

I'm 30 weeks preggo.... and very surprisingly became pregnant just 5 months post op... this pregnancy has been fabulous! I have not gained a pound since becoming pregnant. I have actually lost a total of 22 lbs since first finding out. My baby is very healthy and right on track.. my ob is not concerned at all. I expect I will gain a few in these last weeks. My appetite has definitely increased... and I have given into some cravings. : ) Good luck to everyone!

This is really encouraging to hear. I do worry about not gaining enough or gaining too much. Even worse, losing it after baby. We worked so hard and went through so much (surgery and dieting)... just want to be extra careful.

Great post!

These people posting just had the surgery and are still in the honeymoon phase of it all. You can lose for up to 1.5 years give or take. I would not look at those weight gain as the end all be all. I got pregnant at 1.5 years out from the sleeve and settled into 160 for two months prior to getting pregnant. While I am probably on the high end...I gained 70 pounds. I just had my LO 5 days ago and a significant portion of that weight was water!!!! So yesterday I weighed 206. I believe I will land around 195/198 in the next week as my uterus shrinks and I lose more Water. My appetite is so-so now, but I still have crazy hormones going all over the place. I really want to see where I get to in six weeks. I will post again.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
