Only a week left until I start my pre-op diet! My surgery is schuduled for 8/5 and I am getting so nervous. I keep hoping I'm doing the right thing. Alittle bothered because my manager does not think I should have it done (trying to ignore the negative comments).

Please don't listen to your manager because you are doing it for you. I am a little nervous because mine is on the 31st of July. So good luck to you

Your manager has never walked a mile in your shoes.....until he/she does, ignore that person's negative remarks..

My surgery is 8/6 and will officially start the liquid diet on Tuesday for 2 weeks (do you only have a one week liquid diet?) However, I have been purging the kitchen, and decided to start it a few days early......

MrsWynter, you'll be coming up soon! Good luck!

I didn't tell anyone at my place of business. They have known I've been working out like a fiend and eating healthier for months now. I did tell my boss I would be out to have surgery. But they did not ask and I did not tell; the laws say I don't have to.

He just said to take care of myself and return healthy.

Oh I plan too! Healthier and smaller. :-)

Pattygee, I only have a 10 day pre-op diet.

I decided to tell my manager because she seemed concerned that I'll be out for 4 weeks and that I was ill. I forgot though that she is very opionated! Grrr....

I get mixed reviews at work. Most are supportive, some concerned because I'm going to Mexico (one person said I'll probably come back with the same stomach, but missing a kidney) LOL. The black and Hispanic guys say.... it's OK, just don't lose your butt. LOL I'm excited. 2 of my co-workers recently had the surgery in Orlando. They're both doing great. I didn't have that option without waiting another year because of my insurance. I'm excited. I'm 9 days out, on day 6 of my liquid diet (lost 6.8 lbs.)The only fear I have is it's Hurricane season, and I don't want weather postponing my surgery date. Several years ago I had to cancel a vacation because of a Hurricane.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
