protein..4 days post op

Recommended Posts

I recently became sleeved on 7/8 and I'm having trouble getting my Protein in. How in the world can I get 70g of protein in and 64 oz of Water daily when the pouch only holds 1.5 oz? Any suggestions? Anybody sleeved on 7/8 that has any input?

I was sleeved 7/3 and just started getting my Protein in yesterday when I could add milk to my diet. Could not do the Protein shake with Water when I was on clears. I tried everyday and could not do it!

Glad to know I'm not alone. What clear Proteins did you use week one?

LIke you two, I had problems as well and actually still do...when it comes to liquids, my stomach gets bloated very quickly if I drink too much...at first especially, you have to "sip sip sip"...that is the mantra...most of the advice you get will be to keep Water near you all during the day and every 10 or 15 minutes take a few small sips...I found that very hard to do, even though I do think it's good advice...as for the Proteins, the first month you definitely will need to get the majority via the Protein shakes/drinks...I hated those, too, but made myself drink them...you will get lots of recommendations on those here, because people's tastes differ so greatly...my favorite powder is the Unjury brand chocolate Splendor flavor...and I put some PB2 (peanut butter powder) in for extra flavor and a little extra protein...hang in there because things do get better as the weeks progress

I was sleeved on 7/9 and am having the same difficulty. Everything but Water tastes pretty disgusting to me and causes bloating. I have found that walking right after I drink is somewhat helpful; I am just going to keep trying, figure each sip is a bit more Protein

Sleeved on the 28th and I still can't get in all the liquids and almost zero Protein. My surgeon says don't worry it will happen and to focus first on the liquid intake.

I don't really have a problem with the liquids. I was always a big "drinker". I sip all day long but no different than before. I did the whey Protein Powder with Water when I was on clears. That's all my surgeon would let me have. Horrifying to say the least! I tried the Liquid Protein from Vitamin shop in the little bullets but they were even worse. Now that I can mix in some fruit an milk I'm doing much better with the Protein as I suspect you will be too!

You won't get it in much at this stage. I can just now reach 80-100 and I'm at 3 months post op. I was lucky to get 20 in at that point in time. I focused on Water first then Protein second. It was an ALL day job where I felt like I was staring at the clock the whole time!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
