Uggh. Nausea back tonight.

Recommended Posts

Nausea has returned. Uggh. Took my anti nausea pill but sheesh. Its been over a week since I last felt this way. Maybe I need to go slower with my diet progression.

I feel your pain :( I struggled with nausea off and on for the first 4-6 weeks after my revision. It did get better though. I just had to ride it out. I don't know what you have for nausea meds, but I had zofran which was like a sugar pill. It never helped my nausea. Phenergan was much better for me, but after my prescription ran out, I switched to Dramamine over the counter and it worked just as well. Still use it from time to time if I get queasy for no reason! Hope you feel better soon!!

Aww thanks. I do have all three and find phenergan works the best too. Didn't work last night. Still feel yucky this morning. I even got up at 4am and took a reglan which didn't do anything. The baby tummy is colicky I guess.

Aaw sorry about the nausea, that sucks.

Be careful if you're taking Vitamins and try not take them to close together. I have found that causes my little tummy to be sore and temperamental.

Take care

Reglan is made of sugar. I'm convinced!! ;) lol Hope you feel better soon. I know the nausea is awful and so frustrating, but give it time. I promise it does eventually go away!!!

My body is just out of wack. I can take 1 oz of cream of wheat and 2 oz of Water this morning ok. It sounds like a party in my belly. Everything is waking up.

Uggh. Nausea is back again. My intake is so poor. Focusing on liquids first. I'm still pretty swollen at least my upper abdomen looks like it.

How long did the nausea stage last?? What did you find that helped it not be so bad? Just getting mentally prepared ... How are you feeling now a few more weeks out?

Honestly I still have it to some degree though I've only vomitted 3 times. I'm 4 weeks plus post op. Have reglan, phenergan, and prilosec. Really depends on what I eat. Still on pureed stage another 2 weeks. More acidic foods or spicy foods kill me as does coffee and shakes.< /p>

Yeah, hate to tell you, but I'm almost 3 months out and I still get it sometimes. Never thrown up, but get insane nausea still sometimes. Mostly when I try and drink a Protein Shake or eat a Protein Bar. Ugh. That's probably my biggest issue, getting in enough Protein, because I haven't really been able to supplement at all post-op! But as long as I avoid those, and eat slowly, with small well chewed bites, I'm good! :)

I feel your pain. I was just released from the hospital after two long weeks. I was nauseas from day one after my surgery. I'm almost seven weeks post op. But the nausea kicked my butt. So badly I had severe dehydration. Now I'm home with pic line and a TPN fluids for two weeks. I had never imagined this to have happen to me. While I was in the hospital I had two endonoscopy's and both times they stretched my new tummy because there was some narrowing. On top of IV nutrients I'm getting. I have the nausea patch I take zofran every 6 hours and phenagran as needed. Its been a nightmare for me. I fall under that one percent of patients that have chronic nausea :( Please be careful and try your best to keep that nausea under control so that you can keep your fluids in and not get yourself dehydrated and end up in the ER. Hang in there and keep us posted.

Me too. Doc says first focus on Fluid intake. That's a problem too. Just so full with just a mouthful.

Hi I'm glad your home! So they decided to not go ahead with the bypass? The doctors were talking about that if I'm not mistaken?

No I didn't go through with it. I asked for a second opinion and the new surgeon wants to try different methods to see if the nausea will subside. She gave me new hope . Because honestly I'm terrified of the gastric bypass. I actually know of one other person here on this sight who had the same thing as me and she too was going to have the gastric bypass but her nausea went away after her TPN at home treatments. So I'm hopeful that I will to recover from this. I have to stay positive and determine. And give it my ALL because Lord knows I don't want another surgery again. :(

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
