Oh that's right Sheryl, I forgot he has kids. That does throw a money wrench in everything. There were a couple of other things too that you felt would not work long term.

the artist turned out to be a big disappointment, as usual. His pictures must have been really old. I was attracted to his picture but when I met him, all I felt was let down. He's kind of an odd ball, in many ways too. I guess the best word to describe him is a complete nerd.

I am going to go out with him though. We only met for a brief time. I am always that way when I find someone online. I want to meet ASAP so I know what I am dealing with, but only for a brief time. Then I reassess. He wants to take me out, so I will go but I don't think we are a match.

Coops, I hope things turn a corner for you! I know what you mean about a funk. I've been in one for a long time.

Tonight is especially depressing. There's a really good band playing and I really wanted to go out. I get so sick of sitting in the house practically 24/7. Sat. night and I'm sitting home alone again with nobody to go anywhere with.

Michael is a good man, we have lots of fun, I like his friends, he likes mine...no complaints. He hasn't managed his financial life well and I won't be a.partner with someone who isn't on top of that stuff. There are.reasons for his situation but he is 61.and nowhere near ready to retire financially

Taking a moment to honor the reason for memorial day - too many people have died defending our countries; we owe our freedom to them.

I was going to ask about Memorial Day but thought I had figured it out. Over here we remember on 11th day of 11th month at 11.00 am when the whole country comes to a halt for a 2 minutes silence. The Sunday nearest the 11/11 is designated Remembrance Sunday and there are ceremonies at war memorials.

I had to tell a younger person what Memorial day was for. She didn't understand why she was getting a day off work.

Went out with the artist and I couldn't wait to come home. I think he has Aspergers or something. He's one odd duck. I hope he realized the date was awful so I don't have to tell him we aren't a match.

I agree Sheryl that by 61 people need to start having an exact idea regarding retirement. I get really sick of men that are penniless at that age and I know a lot of them. Most of them will say their ex wife has it all.

I'm glad I got Match for half price.I wouldn't have paid if it hadn't been a better deal than full price. They are different than the ones on POF. Some are the same. I'm getting a lot of interest from out of town guys. That's ok cause they are either retired or getting reading to. I wish I wasn't so picky. I hate 61 year old men that look like an old man. They look 80 to me.

My trainer looked up gabapentin and he said it does cause weight gain for some people and also makes it difficult to lose. I just wish I could get addicted to exercise the way I used to be.

I wonder how Kim is doing. I think she's really to be admired for supporting her man while he travels. I would not be that strong.

I've had a horrible weekend. All my friends were busy with their families and I basically watched tv non stop, other than my bad 2 hour date.

I had so much fun this weekend. I attended 2 parties on Saturday; hosted one Sunday and then went to mariners on Monday. I am enjoying my friends and also socializing with Michael's circle of people.

It's not just men, I know two women who are in their 60s, own nearly nothing and plan to rely on social security.

I'll post. I went out on a date with a guy who took out his teeth at the table when he took me out to lunch. I'm going to be alone forever :) I posted about it in the mars and venus collide forum. It was so gross!

I am really enjoying my trainer. He's really good and motivating. I just wish I could lose a few lbs as I am eating right and exercising and nothing is happening. It's really frustrating. I should just box up all my clothes that don't fit and get rid of them all.

I'm going out of town tomorrow to a neighboring town and am looking forward to that. Plus I bought my plane tickets to go to Chicago in August and I am really looking forward to that.

Sheryl I know people like that too. I know a guy who was trying to live on $700 a month social security. I finally had to stop being friends with him because he was always asking to borrow money, and every time I saw him, I became depressed.

Denise I shouldn't laugh but I did[emoji1]. I just had the vision in my mind of it happening. What did you do/say? I would of ran a mile.

Glad you are enjoying the trainer, I miss mine and have to find some classes and motivation cos I'm hardly exercising. Keep with it, even if the lbs don't drop the inches will plus it will strengthen your back.

I have not had nearly the horror stories as yours! Honestly Denise I would give up!

I am very happy and busy these days but not doing too great with getting back to 145-150# range!

There are nice intelligent men in Oregon but it seems they don't want me. The losers do though.

I can only hope I won't be alone forever. I have to keep hoping.

I was down another lb on the scale this a.m. but I've had a lot of junk today. Sometimes I think I should go on a fast and just not eat anything until I am down 10 lbs.

I wonder if Kim is going to talk to us again. Has anyone seen her posting anywhere on the board? I hate to lose everybody!!

Denise, oh my! I LOL at the teeth! I would have puked and then RAN! Disgusting! What a way to win friends and influence people!!! Ha!

Been super busy. Had a free for all on junk for a week or so starting with baby boys first birthday party and cupcakes. . Back on track now and took off the pounds so feeling better. Amazing how we can just go right back to old habits so quickly. Well, me anyway.

Here's the birthday boy, Elton John Crochet. EJ post-108291-14655593857752_thumb.jpg post-108291-14655594195433_thumb.jpg post-108291-14655594553775_thumb.jpg

@@Georgia adorable photos!

I just got back from an amazing horsey mountain weekend. We saw UP CLOSE - a bear and a bunch of mule deer. That deer was so close, we could see her beautiful eyelashes. We also saw an elk, across a meadow. Of course lots of birds, butterflies, flowers etc... but the most amazing thing is we saved a golden retriever dog from maurading deer. Seriously. they must of been does with fawns they were hiding but they had that dog pinned down and whenever he tried to escape, the deer went after him. We had to shield him with our horses and escort him home! i am riding a spooky arab borrowed horse and was thankful he stayed steady through that peculiar adventure!

That sounds like so much fun Sheryl. I don't know if I ever told you, I used to have 2 horses. I loved riding them. They saved my sanity after my husband was killed.

Adorable pictures Georgia!!

I am going to Portland to my granddaughter's birthday party this weekend. I am trying to find someone online to go out for entertainment Saturday night. I wrote to a guy who says he loves to dance and goes to a Salsa Club every weekend. More than likely, I'll be spending the evening watching tv in my motel room.

I decided I can't stay with them anymore bc my DIL drives me insane. I'm hoping I can take my granddaughter to the movies and see the new Ellen De Generes movie.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
