At first it kinda of felt stuck, but then I made sure I chewed 30 times and that was much better!! I just don't want to purée it! I just puréed some fresh cooked carrots, but tuna? I just can't do it! Haha

I'm looking forward to soft foods in two weeks. I'm on day 1 of puréed and it hasn't been so bad (yet!). Breakfast was puréed cottage cheese, lunch was left over egg drop Soup, snack was a puréed blue cheese, yogurt and cottage cheese dip, and dinner was strained cold Greek yogurt Soup (think thinner version of tzatziki).

Not sure yet what I'm having tomorrow, but I'm glad that I've gotten in 55 grams of Protein so far today, and supplemented with only 1/3 a bottle of Isopure coconut.

Some of the things I plan on incorporating into my puréed diet are refried Beans, tuna salad, crab salad, salmon mousse, chicken and stew.

Just did a tuna salad tonight for the first time. Instead of mayo I used a wedge of Laughing Cow French Onion, plus a dollop of spicy brown mustard to go with the albacore tuna and of course relish (mine was dill relish, because that's just how I like it :) )

Spacedust, you're so lucky! I have a whole week left before I get to soft foods. I did get to make my first Decaf Cappuccino yesterday and that made me feel a bit more normal. Heaven! I can't wait until I get to have cottage cheese and strawberries again!

I have to admit that it is both a blessing and a curse! The variety of flavors and textures makes eating interesting again (although I'm wire satisfied with small amounts! ) but I am having to remind myself that anything more than an ounce to an ounce and a half of denser Protein will make me hurt - I made that mistake of ignoring the danger signals once and boy, I do not want it to happen again! No puking, no slime, but waves of pain for about 30 minutes that I had to walk off.

I'm not sure whether having a sleeve of steel is a good thing or not sometimes :/

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
