Post op Week 1 diet

Recommended Posts

Hi,

First post, my surgery is this Wednesday and I am getting nervous (Guess you could say that about any surgery)

My question is what did you eat during the first and second week after your surgery?

Did your doctor send you home with any diets? Most people are on liquid diets right now which is broths, Jello sf, Soups with no chunks in it..... :) If you don't have a diet plan, please let us know so one of us can post it here for you..... :P

Well, congrats on your upcoming surgery! :)

Everyone's Drs are very different, so everyones diets are different. My diet was week 1- Clear liquids, sugar free -- week 2 - thick liquids: cream Soups, Protein shakes, v8..

What's your Dr's orders for you??

I was on Clear Liquids for the first week, then cream Soups for 2 weeks, mushy foods for 2 weeks and then begin with soft foods etc.

Your dr will give you a list of what he expects you to eat. Hope things go well! You can do this!

My doctor ordered clear liquids for 2 weeks, full liquids for 2 weeks, puréed foods for 2 weeks and so on and so forth. Ask your doctor what he advises. Congrats and good luck.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
