I've read testimonials that said he was back at work after 3 days. But it didn't work that way for me. I wasn't able to drive for 7 days and was back to work on day 10.

Everyone recovers from surgery at different rates. You might want to ask your doctor and some of his former patients how fast they were able to get out of the house.

I was back at a desk job on day four but my husband drove me to work and I didn't have to walk that much. I was sore but I want to use my vacation time for a vacation :-) there is Really no way to know ahead of time how you will feel though.

I was driving within 4 days post-op and back to work within a couple of days. I was tired but it wasn't too bad, since I work from home. When I was exhausted, I was able to take a break for a couple of hours to nap.

I've read lots of experiences here where people were able to go back to work, full time stay-at-home parenting, etc. pretty quickly post-op. Everyone recovers at different rates, so just be prepared in case you need some extra time.

If at day 4 you're still on any type of narcotic pain relief, you can't drive--not without being dangerous to yourself and others, anyway--and if you're still on narcotics, you may be too sleepy/groggy to concentrate well in classes anyway.

I'm on day 4 today. I'm a little sore, slightly feverish (keeping a close eye on that), and struggling to get all my liquids in. I took a brief walk earlier, but other than that, I'm laying low today.

As Joatsaint said--everyone's recovery is different. You might be one of the lucky ones--but plan well, just in case you're not. ;)

I stayed 1 night in the hospital. Got home and slept on and off the next 2 days:)

Didn't drive til day 5 just because I was all set at home and didn't have to go anywhere.

I still took a nap most every afternoon for the 1st week. Guess I was catching up on sleep!

Also, think about if you have to carry a book bag for your books- you'll be on a lifting restriction for 4-6 weeks after surgery, usually nothing over 10-15 pounds. Otherwise you may give yourself a hernia!

youre all right! Ill have to just get like a folder or something and talk to my teacher! By the way' date=' Im starving with my liquid diet :([/quote']

Hang in there with the liquid diet! Looks like you're on it 10 days which means you're just a few days in! I hear it gets better around day 4 or 5....I didn't have to do the liquid diet myself- low carb and high Protein. But I get it now that I've been sleeved- on day 5 of a three week liquid diet until I can move to purée. Of course, it's easier with a sleeved stomach...a lot easier! It's only temporary, and you have a lifetime of yummy, healthy eating ahead of you!

I never took any more pain meds the day after surgery and I went to church on day four. Went grocery shopping on day five. Everyone is different though.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
