Wine? Anyone tried glass after an amount of time

Recommended Posts

I am wondering if after an amount of time having the sleeve surgery has anyone tried a glass of wine. I have never drank much in my life but just wondering if I'm out to dinner or at a party if I could handle a few sips of wine. I am 8 weeks post opp and eating small amounts of regular food with no issues.

I am almost 4 months out and I enjoy wine. I got the green light at 6 weeks. It may effect you differently then it did prior to your surgery so would try a glass at home first.

My doctor said no alcohol ever - he said with the sleeve sx, alcohol is very corrosive to the new surgical line and could lead to ulcers if not leaks.

White wine irritates my sleeve. Red wine is fine. I get an almost instant buzz tho and tbh it's not overly pleasant.

My Dr. said at 4-5 months a glass of wine was okay. I tried a margarita at 6 months out.... Only drank half and had horrible heartburn/reflux. Needless to say we won't be going there in the near future.

I had a few sips about a week ago. It was a charity event that was being hosted at a Wine Tasting School. Fortunately it wasn't impolite to take a sip or 2 and then dump what was left (and they were pouring very small amounts anyway). Even at my highest weight.. I was a bit of a light weight when it came to alcohol. Fortunately this was small enough & stretched out enough time wise that it didn't really hit me. I will say that when I got home I was famished.. even after having a Protein Bar on the way home.

I am 8 weeks out and have had a few (small) glasses of wine. I haven't had a problem. I have also had a mixed drink with no problem, but I did sip over a long period of time.

I am 7 weeks out and had 2 glasses of white wine with dinner last week on my birthday. No real problems, no heartburn etc. I ate 1/3 of my dinner so it didn't hit me hard. I did have a headache and was really thirsty when I got home. So then I was up every 2 hours in the bathroom that night. I won't be drinking any wine again anytime soon. Not that I really care anything about liquor -- food has always been my drug of choice.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
