Anyone sleeved by the roller weightloss center in Fayetteville Arkansas? I'm curious about your experience.

I'm with Roller also :) I'm really leaning toward the sleeve, because of less long term complications but they seem real intent on pushing the bypass... Have you had the same experience? Did they recommend bypass and did you ask for the sleeve? I'm 2 visits away from insurance approval... Hoping to be able to have my surgery in Sept or Oct. would love too keep in touch w/you and support one another.

Yay!

Yes, the bypass was suggested but we were told about all of them. I went in wanting the lap and and was told they are taking out more bands than they are putting in. So we went home and talked it over and decided the sleeve was best for us. We are self pay with no assistance from our insurance, the sleeve has maxed out our budget.

We also choose the sleeve because we are hoping this will cure our infertility and I was worried the bypass would have ill affects on a pregnancy due to malnutrition.

I am scheduled for surgery at northwest Springdale on aug 5 and I am so excited.

Keep me updated on your journey!!

Do you know who will be performing your surgery? I have an apt there today at one :) The malabsorption is a concern for me as well. We have two children but would like to have more, but w/ my current height/weight it wouldn't be wise. Also I've had asthma my whole life and I've heard that there are issues with asthma medication and nutrient deficiencies that could be life threatening (with no warning signs) yikes!

I am excited for you! Not much longer to go :) I will be praying for you in these next few weeks leading up to surgery and defiantly on your day.

My paperwork says dr. Roller will be doing my surgery.

How far are you in your process?

I have one more visit at the end of August and then they submit to insurance for approval. Have you met with Dr Roller yet to discuss the surgery?

I have my pre-op meeting with him on August 1st. I've been getting things ready now so I'm good to go when the time comes.

I found Isopure at GNC and I've ordered Protein drinks and Soups online and my Vitamins too.

What is the Isopure? On the Protein Shakes are you doing the Bariatric Advantage, Unjury, or something different? I have only tried the cho and van flavors of the BA, and just bought samples of some of the other flavors yesterday. What vitamins/supplements or medications are they suggesting for you post op? I haven't gotten that far yet, so I'm a little curious about what all they prescribe/recommend... I'm also looking into Springdale for my surgery, that's where I had my UGI done, but my mother is wanting me to check out Physicians... Have you heard anything good or bad about either? So nervous about the whole process, but excited too!

Isopure is a liquid Protein drink that taste like Gatorade and has 40g of Protein. Check them out at GNC.

I plan on doing the BA and unjury drinks but I also have Protein Drinks left over from when I was doing metabolic research center diet.

I haven't heard anything good or bad about any of the hospitals. I wanted to go wherever I could get into soonest. So I will be going to nwmc springdale.

I am so ready!

I will defiantly check it out, thanks for the tip! Were you able to find the shakes and Vitamins cheaper on line? Do you mind if I ask how old you are? I turn 37 this month :)

I bought a lot of my Vitamins from BariatricChoice.com if you sign up use my email and we both can get a $20 credit! Ginger.bourquin@gmail.com

I got sublingual B12 and chewable Iron for less. And I ordered some sample Protein drinks too.

I'm 30, married, no children. Yet. Hopefully. lol

I assume by your nickname you have boys?

Have you started going to the support group meetings? I figured I wait and go after surgery.

So are you telling many ppl about your surgery? I'm only telling my inlaws and my two best friends and my boss. And of course my husband. Other than that, mums the word!

I will defiantly check out that site and if i do order I will use your email :)

No, I haven't gone to the support group yet either.. Have thought about going maybe once before just to ask some questions... I am curious about how many sleeves they have done vs bypass.. I know they seem to really talk a lot about the bypass... Would like to talk w/ some sleevers if there are any that go. I do have two wonderful boys 11 and 7... My weight problem started w/my first pregnancy and has gotten worse! The only people I've told so far are my husband and mother... I'm telling my best friend tomorrow, she has known me since the 7th grade and knows the skinny me :) I know she will b supportive. I haven't told my other close friends yet because I'm waiting until I know for sure I've been approved. I'm hoping they will b supportive, I'm the "big" jolly girl in the group, they have all only known me at my current size. I plan on bringing pictures of my old self so they will understand why I'm doing what I'm doing and be able to see what I looked like before they met me. My husband and I plan on telling my inlaws too as soon as I'm approved. My mother in law is a big worrier and I'm already struggling with this decision, I don't need her stressing herself and the rest of us out before hand...there will be enough of that when the time comes! LOL

I will of course have to tell my boss and I know once I do it won't be a secret for long... Ugh!

But there is another lady I work with that went thru this in Feb (she had the bypass and is what got me motivated to do it myself) and she tells people if they ask, which is how I found out... Soooo I guess in the grand scheme of things if more people find out than I want to, but it ultimately helps someone else I guess it can't be too bad? I'm just not wanting to advertise it tho! :)

I pray this helps you with your family plans :) my boys are the greatest thing (besides my hubby :) ) that has ever happened to me! I want to be around a long time for them and be able to do more stuff with them. You have been in my prayers as your preparing for all this. I'm excited for you! And I'm glad to have found someone to talk to and go thru all of this with! My last apt with them is Aug 23rd and then they submit to insurance. Don't know how long it takes to get approved and scheduled from there. Hopefully not too long!

I've never been thin, I remember being 216lbs in 8th grade :-/ I lost 50lbs a few years ago using the metabolic research center but then gained it back when I stopped going.

I was very nervous to tell my BFFs just cause I really wanted their support and nothing negative. I've been blessed with amazing ppl who stand by me no matter what.

I hope your insurance goes through quickly, I read on here one lady was approved the same day! But all insurance is different so hopefully it won't be too long!

Sometimes I get frustrated that our insurance doesn't pay anything for the sleeve but then I'm thankful I don't have to wait. I started all this in may.

I don't know how long the refer a friend promo goes on for so you might sign up now and get your credit to save for later. You don't have to order anything. :-)

We are really hoping this surgery will solve all our baby making problems. We chose this over IVF. My fertility dr said at my current weight 267, IVF was highly likely to fail. We can't go through that again! He wants me to lose 100lbs ideally before we start again.

I'm officially a week and a half away from surgery now. I start my diet on Monday. Then liquids next weekend. I'm so nervous that something is going to happen to derail everything.

Have you heard about that stomach bug going around?? I feel like I shouldn't leave the house so I don't get sick!! LOL

Have a great day!

Hi :) I've been out of town and am just now getting on here. I plan on checking out that website tonight.

So....today is the first day if your pre op diet, how's it going? This week will fly by and next Monday will be here before you know it :)

Getting excited for you!! I have been doing so much research on here and I have a ton of questions to ask at my next apt... Also already starting to make lists of stuff to buy before hand. Looking up good Soup recipes as well :)

Have they said anything to you about taking anything for Hair loss or anything to help with gallstones? So curious to know what all he tells you in your pre op meeting. Stay strong this week, you can do it!!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
