Me TOO!! So excited and nervous all at the same time :\ Excited to have this done, am looking forward to the future and what it holds for me and my family. Nervous because the last time I had a surgery (non weight surgery btw) I had some difficulties with getting sick and wanting to sleep so much afterwards...will be talking to the hospital about that for pre-op appt. My surgery date is 8/5/13! Looking for a support person/group for this journey :)

I couldn't sleep last night and I know it is because I am so excited about this coming Saturday when I fly into ElPaso, TX, then on to Juarez, Mexico to Star Medica Hospital to have the Gastric Sleeve Surgery that afternoon. I am so ready for this!

Did you see the surgeon for the last time b4 surgery? When do you start the preop diet?

I saw the surgeon in June... I have my pre op assessment on the 5th and my last class on the 13th... I start my pre op diet on the 10th and that's low carb high Protein. How about yourself...

I only seen my Dr. Once. I have an appointment on the 7th. I guess he will ask me then to start my low carb diet. Tomorrow I am going for labs, EKG and chest X-rays. I am very nervous. Can't sleep at night. ????

Aww... Try not to wreck your brain about tomorrow. Be happy you know what you're going in for... I'm not even sure what the pre admin testing consist of... They told me to prepare to be there for about 2 hours. But seeing how I don't have any underlying conditions ... I'm not sure what's going to happen.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
