Frustrated Beyond Belief & Having Second thoughts ...

Recommended Posts

thank you sweet girl, I really do appreciate the advice. I am a "everything happens for a reason" type person but I guess being that close and on liquids for a few days was beyond disappointing. I rearranged my life around June 25th as most of us have. I just want it done and over with and now I have to wait another month because of work conflicts, the waiting is the WORST! Summer is just beginning and I don't want any part of it! blah! thank you all so much for your kind words :)

I am so sorry about your situation, but this is just a bump in the road. I had my sleeve on June 19th and I have had 2 c-sections, the first not scheduled, the second scheduled. So, regarding the pain, it is similar to a c-section. Except the pain is not under your belly but on your side. To give you some prespective, one of my friends was also going for the sleeve but learned last week that she had stage 2 breast cancer. She is now fighting that first and then will re-visit the sleeve in about a year. I hope this helps you move forward with your brave journey for a healthy life. Don't let a bump in the road de-rail you. Good luck with everything.

Thinking that everything is a sign right before surgery is so totally natural. Been there - done that... and SO happy that I went through with it.

1. How do you train your brain to stop shoveling it in after surgery?

I didn't struggle with this like a lot of people do, because I didn't have a food addiction. If you have a food addition, that is something to start working on pre-surgery because surgery will do nothing to change that. If you're an emotional eater, find how you're going to deal with emotions before surgery. I feel full on 2 oz of food and that is enough for me to stop shoveling it in. Feeling full on so little is such a blessing.

2. I had a C-section and it wasn't that horrible, is the pain similar ?

There are a lot of differences when it comes to this. My gas pain was horrendous. I have a daunting account of it on my YouTube channel 3 days after surgery when I decided to talk about it. It was way worse than I thought it would be - but everyone is different - you may feel nothing!

3. Can you describe to me what you consume in a day?

Breakfast - shake

lunch - tuna salad (sometimes with Protein chips)

dinner - chicken with cheese

"The WLS 4th meal" (as I call it) - ground turkey with cheese

Snacks - turkey Jerky

liquid calories - half a bottle of Isopure, cup of milk

I eat 4 meals a day because I need to in order to get my Protein in and I also tend to get a headache if I don't eat something in a 4(ish) hour time span. A lot of us eat 4-5 meal per day. If you're interested in looking through daily meals, you can find me on MyFitnessPal. My food journal is public. http://www.myfitness...iary/mhomchenko

Make sure you are fully educated before you go for surgery - but that being said - doubts before surgery are so natural. When I look back at videos I made before surgery on my Vlog I wonder why I worried about those things. Now they seem so silly!

My surgery got put off 3 times - it felt like it was never going to happen - but I'm so glad that I kept pursuing it!

Hope this helps!

I tried to tell people I didn't have a food addiction and for me it was genetic and low metabilism and I was told that was not possible.. I hope you do not get treated like that too.

I'm sorry you get that! Not many people know about my surgery and I moved across the country 3 weeks after my surgery so my loss and all the questions and comments that go along with it have kind of gone unnoticed. It's hard to get comments like that from people who can't possibly know the answer. Keep your head up - we're on this journey for us!

Interesting. I'm new to this site - when we had this discussion on YouTube there seemed to be a pretty good split on those who thought they did/didn't have a food addiction. Not more on one side or the other.

Been there too! Was told on this site that I had an eating disorder for legitimate hunger. As if the therapist at my surgeon's office couldn't possibly know better than them (my surgeon would never sleeve a person with an untreated eating disorder). Too many people on this board assume we all get to this point for the same reasons , but obesity is a disease with a multitude of causes. Period. Don't let them bully you honey.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
