I had my surgery with Dr. A on May 9th. I went with someone, but would have been perfectly fine by myself. They take really good care of you there. I've had no issues and am super happy with my choice. I'm getting some follow up blood work done on Monday, but already my blood pressure is within normal range. I would highly recommend Dr. A; he is a very skilled surgeon.

Should I bring my lap top to the Hospital? I'm going alone and I don't want to get bored. Do they have wireless internet? I can't remember the name of the hospital Dr. Alvarez uses... but if you've been there please let me know. Thanks

I paid $8700.... Had to send $1000.00 deposit upfront which was applied to the cost of surgery. Day of surgery I brought a certified money order for $7700

That's what I was quoted as well. I sent the deposit last Tuesday, so I expect to hear from Susan tomorrow, and get the rest of my pre-op information. My only regret is not doing this sooner.

I paid 8250' date=' I saved because I drove into eagle pass[/quote']

Hi, Susie. ;)

Thinking of taking my daughter to Dr.A sometime this fall. She wants to drive, does not like to fly. I will ask if it is less $ to meet them in Eagle Pass. Text me sometime! I hope that you are all healed from the car accident now!

My appt is July 13th with Dr. Alvarez, we are driving 15+ hours to Eagle Pass, my total is $8700, paid the $1000 deposit so upon arrival I will owe $7700.00 as far as I know there is no discount for driving to Eagle Pass because i am paying the regular price. They have two pickup places one in San Antonio and one in Eagle Pass.

Hope this helps! Good Luck!

Everyone I've talked to said $8700.00 is what they paid. Susan said their prices haven't changed since last time I contacted them which was in 2010. The only other charge I have heard of is $500 for people with a BMI over 50. I haven't heard of any discounts or anything, but I'm perfectly happy with the low cost!!! It's over $20,000.00 here in my area of the us!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
