Banded 12/14/06

Recommended Posts

Hi, new bandster here, just went yesterday for 2 week post-op. Real pleased, 12 lb weight loss. I was told I can start soft mushy food. Never knew chicken salad could taste so good. May I recommend the Magic Bullet? It has made my life easier with mixing shakes and I can see where it will come in handy with the mushy food.

Just FYI - I came into this at 238 lbs. I am being treated for hypertension, sleep apnea, and my latest disease state seems to be diabetes. My surgeon has assured me that he will have me med free in no time. I never thought I would reach this medical state of being. I have always been active. I started gaining shortly after marriage - 23 years now - and packed on the extra with each pregnancy - baby girl now 18 and baby boy 16. It has, for the last 16 years at least, been go, go, go. Grab something fast, gotta get off work, pick up kids, dance class, soccer practice, pick up, drop off, homework, baths, bed, sleep, next day start over. I know I'm not telling a lot of you anything new. But baby boy is soon to get his license,

baby girl busy doing her own thing and now....

IT'S MOMMY TIME!!!:clap2:

Maybe that sounds selfish, I don't care. Not like I'm packing my bags and moving out, I'll still be around. I am going after the beginning of the year to join the YMCA. I will have my first fill towards the end of January. I am taking care of long put off dental work. My husband says I'm gonna send us to the poor farm, but, gotta love him, he hasn't said no.

I feel I have been given a second chance at life. I want to like myself and feel good about myself again. Who knew 12 lbs could start me on that journey. Since my surgery 2 weeks ago I have felt happier, more relaxed, just plain old good! I know I have a long way to go, many "demons" to conquer - but one day at a time right!

Good for you Teresa!!! And welcome both to Bandland and to LBT!! We look forward to watching your progress and sharing in the tips you find!

My kids too are grown--more so than yours, I have grandbabies to spoil now! But I look at it this way--I am making myself healthy so I can be around to enjoy the grankids, and I am sending a positive self image message to my daughters (and son too I suppose!)--that I am worth taking care of too. I know I would want them to always take care of themselves--so I should too!

Keep in touch, let us know where you are from...all that good stuff. This is an awesome support site, and you will find really good people here!

Welcome!!!

Kat

Hi Teresa, you are right it is one day at a time. Thank you for reminding me of that. I was banded in June and I'm down 34 lbs. I am considered a regular/slow loser at 1 lb per week. I creep up and down most weeks. Good luck with healing. It is great you have already lost 12 lbs. Good job.

Hi: I am waiting for my band to be inserted Feb. 1/07. I am scared and excited. I was referred to this site by the website of the clinic that I am going to go to. It is so great to be reading your comments about your successes. They are giving me a real insite. Good luck to all of you and I am encouraged by you as well

Wow you are lucky to get to start on mushies already. My surgeon wants 4 weeks of liquids. I don't know how I will do on that. If I didn't have a food problem, I wouldn't need a band. I hope I can stick it out. I want to do as I am told.

We will be on this journey together! I get banded tomorrow 7am.

Hope to be talking to you, Denise

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
