So am I the only one, or are there others that have decided to eat the few things that they are truly going to miss before starting the pre-op diet? I have gone out and got things like cashews, Madelines, Hawaiian Maui Onion chips, Broccoli and Beef... I am not a big foodie, but there are a few things in life that I love very much. I know there will come a day where I will get to eat, even if in small doses, some of things that I like. Some people call it a food funeral, but I just call it a goodbye to a few friends.

I did that too. I didn't think I overdid it that much but I gained 7.5 lbs in about a month! I did have fudge my last weekend so it is mostly to blame.

I'm being really good about a low carb diet to loose weight pre op but I allow myself one cheat meal a week and I make it worth it. I don't go out and consume 3000 calories by any means, but I shared my favorite Pasta dish and Tiramisu with my sister in law last night. What's funny is during my "fork soft" (which runs week 2-10) I joked that my nut said "the fork has to go to the plate" and it easily did that with the tiramisu.

I went and had spicy chinese the other night, though we really only eat it once every few months I wanted to have it one last time in-case I can't eat it in the distant future. I've read a lot of people have a hard time with both chinese food and spicy foods (I will be so sad if I can no longer stomach spicy foods) post-op that I wanted to enjoy it while I could. I plan to have fast food one last time, one last meal where I have a beer/appetizer/entree/dessert/coffee with my fiance at Longhorn Steakhouse and I'll probably have some m&m's and a pepsi before I start my pre-op diet at the beginning of July.

I too am eating some of my favorite things. Cheeseburger, check. Rib Eye steak, check. Mexican, check. Just leaves Chinese, that'll be this weekend. No real pre-op diet required here. Just a really strict liquid diet for the 24hrs prior to surgery. I am scheduled for this coming Monday. I don't see it as a food funeral either. For me it's sort of like the day I dropped my daughter off at college her freshman year. So long for now, while realizing that what is about to happen is a life changing event and things will never be the same. Onward and upward I say. Excited about personal growth opposed to physical growth. YAY!!!

I was dieting so I didn't really do that but I am on my preop for a week more (1 week down) and I want the food everyone else is eating....

Oh we'll... I am trying to lose what my surgeon wanted to if I had eaten some f the food I might have set myself back. *sighs*

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
