Hi my name is Nikkoal. Im from central california. This has been quite a journey for me. I started my wls path about 2.5 years ago. I did everything I was supposed to do. At the very end with last minute labs I found out I was pregnant. Had a daughter who will be 1 very soon. Cant see mt life without her. Glad she came before I had surgery. Long story short. Had to start all over. Dietician, physch, labs, etc. I am now so close. I have a tentative surgery date for july 29th. I just got the YES!! From insurance. Received my labwork. Everything was good except I have a stomache bacteria called h. Pylori. Anyone ever have this problem please let me know. I got to take a strong course of antibiotics and go from there. Look forward to being on the losers bench.

H.pylori is a common stomach bacteria and the antibiotics should clear it up without any problems or delays in your surgery....welcome!!

I had this as well. I was given antibiotics 3 weeks before my surgery date that I had to take for the duration of 2 weeks. It appears to be common so don't worry. It didn't affect my surgery date. Good luck on your journey.

I was positive for the bacteria also, I had to take a serious of meds several times a day (Prevac) and two weeks later it was gone, I took a breath test to conf no more bacteria and now I'm waiting to my surgery tomorrow! All will be fine hun

I was sleeved on 6/4/13. I started my antibiotics on 6/7/13. It was hard to swallow the pills at first. 50% of people test positive for h-pylori.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
