Who knew this sleeve could do so much

Recommended Posts

I had my VSG on the 18th March 13. When I started my journey I was 200lbs and in size 16W. For some if you that may not seem all that big but I am only 5 feet tall. That doesn't leave much room to carry around extra weight. I had high blood pressure, taking 2 alieve a day for joint pain and thought I had to have a bladder repair as I dribbled every time I laughed, coughed, lifted anything heavy. That was a lot as I am a cook and work in an institutional kitchen feeding 1500 plus people a meal. Since my surgery almost 19 weeks ago I have lost 44lbs( my official weigh in is tomorrow) and just bought size 10 pants. I donor take medication for the things above and best if all no more poise pads. This makes me so happy. I am over half way to my goal. I have 31lbs to go. This is a real blessing in disguise.

I started walking right away and the last three weeks or so a couple of us at work have been doing hip hop abs so it must be all coming together.

Miss Bean, oh how I can relate. I was at 197 wearing size 14 standing at 5' when I started. With back & joint problems among other issues. Down to 142 at last weigh in on may 5. I'm down to size 8 now which is getting a little loose. Doc told me there's still another size or 2 to go. so don't spend too much money buying new clothes now, because in another couple of months, you gonna go down anther few sizes. Never thought I'd say buying clothes was a waste of money, but finding myself saying it now. Once I plateau, can' t wait to buy that new wardrobe.

I work in a camp in northern Alberta, Canada. I am there three weeks and home 1 week. I wear a uniform in the kitchen every day so I buy very few clothes. I went from a 16W to a 14 and now a 10. Thank goodness for costco and cheap clothes. I only buy 1 pair until the next size.

You got the right idea. I never shopped for clothes at Walmart but bought small pants today for $7 which will do the trick for now.

Good job. That has been my rule for the last several months, no new clothes til after my surgery. I can't wait to shop in the regular size section.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
