Weight loss slowed after beginning exercise

Recommended Posts

This week I exercised 3 days for an hour each 30 minutes weight 30 cardio. I have lost only 1 pound this week. Usually its 2.5 to 3. WHY?

This is normal, even without the sleeve. your muscles are adjusting to the workout and may swell a small bit. Also, the body will hold Water, expecting to sweat it out soon. Until the body is used to the schedule of working out, it will seem as if loss is slow. Once it is used to this new activity, you should see good results.

I suggest not weighing yourself for a few weeks. When I started working out it took 3 weeks for the scale to move. Exercising is so worth it though because my body looks much better. Less flabby and more toned. Keep it up! Good luck!

Edited after reading more posts and googling :-) The more muscle you build the better you'll feel. Your body will begin to respond to your workout sessions and you'll begin to lose more weight in the long run :-) hang in there..you're going to start shedding the pounds!

Start tracking your measurements. You will see differences when the scale doesn't move. I weigh once a week and measure once a month.

Muscle does not weight more than fat, it has greater density yes, but it does not weigh more. A pound is a pound, and all that.

I've often wondered if we wouldn't be better off focusing on losing the weight before fitness, as soon as I focused on fitness, even though I remained perfect and faithful on my nutrition, my weight loss slowed to a snail pace and never recovered

Do what I do.. go shopping and just try on clothes :)

Then you will see the difference in the inches.

Muscle takes up less space than fat (more dense). It's important to incorporate some strength training while losing so you lose more fat than muscle mass (which you don't want to lose!). Muscle uses more energy so the higher your muscle mass, the more of a fat burning machine you become!

I do an interval training class 3 times a week (combo strength and cardio) and straight cardio the other days (elliptical, step, walk) and my weekly losses are usually in the 2-2.5 lb range. Today is my weekly weigh in day and I'm down 3.4. I don't track my food but I would guess I'm around 900-1100 CSL/day.

I really stepped up my workout and now find I'm a lot more hungry! Anyone else experiencing this?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
