Hi all...I'm a pharmacist so thought I'd chime in. Antibiotics wouldn't make you winded like that. I too would be concerned with blood clots. The lovenox will help prevent but aren't 100%. Good job on calling your doctor...I'd be interested in seeing what they say as well.

Waiting for the call back. I am now panicking. Should I go to hospital? I am all worked up.

Hold ON.... While a blood clot is a concern for everyone. I have a blood clot still and nothing she wrote would signify that she had one. I would really hate to see anyone on here get all frazzled when it isn't warranted. A rapid pulse when up could mean anything. A rapid pulse could signify many things including an infection, which I guess is why you are on antibiotics. I do agree with being concerned and calling a Dr. if anything is troubling you, as I mentioned previously.

bandtovsgone52813, do you have any symptoms on a blood clot? Please go here http://www.hematology.org/Patients/Blood-Disorders/Blood-Clots/5233.aspx

Keep us up to date on what is going on. {{{hugs}}}

Thanks everyone for both the comforting and scary responses.

Nurse just called back said she will see me tomorrow, it's not a blood clot, to take all Vitamins and Protein and fluids and she will see me tomorrow. I feel better I guess but still a little scared, rattled, and anxious.

I suppose if she had any doubt she would have to err on the side of caution and tell me to go to the er for evaluation but that was absolutely not the case. I specifically asked her, do I need to go to the hospital and she said no, I will see you tomorrow in the office at our previously scheduled appointment so that comforts me some.

I just got up and walked about six minutes around my living room, "brisk" pace (I would estimate 2mph if I had to) which was definitely not a stroll or walking with a cane. I'm not sure if I made the pace clear earlier. I finished with 120bpm, light sweat, and heavy breathing.

I will keep you all posted as to what happens tomorrow at my appointment. Thanks again.

If the surgeon's office wasn't concerned enough to send you to ER, then I'd say they are sure. You are right...if they thought there was a slight chance of a clot, they would def err on the side of caution.

Sorry I didn't mean to worry you more. I do think it was a good idea for you to call today just to check. Glad to hear they weren't super concerned! Hope everything goes well tomorrow and hope you start feeling better!

Sorry if I scared you didn't mean to! :-( but know someone who had a blood clot go to her lungs, so I possibly over reacted. That said if you start feeling worse go to the ER. Glad you called!

Hey, just wanted to chime in on the loose stool issue for a sec. My first week I was having a bit of this and I got to thinking that all the "good" bacteria & stuff probably became unbalanced in my intestines & such. So, one of the things on my meal plan (which was liquids 2 wks) was yogurt. I had 4 oz. of chobani vanilla nonfat. Took me almost an hour to eat, but after that...no loose stools, gas, etc. don't know if this would help....but it worked for me.

That is my crazy thing right now....all the twinges from my diaphragm muscle. Laughing....bending over (that's been a surprise), rolling over...etc. have all been showing up at different times with a painful twinge. Dr. said it would get better... :-)

Glad you called the doctors office! I am 7 months post op and I still do not have the energy I use to have. I also take B12 shots once a month at my doctors office You have to remember every body is different, everyone loses at THEIR own rate. Don't beat yourself up, don't look at other people's timelines. You just had major surgery you are doing great! :)

At my appointment today I found out good news and bad news. The good is that I lost 16lbs this week for a total of whopping 41lbs lost since surgery 16 days ago. The bad is that my belly button incision was not healing fast enough so the Fluid behind my incision needed to be drained and pack. It has to be changed every day. YUCK. very uncomfortable feeling and it will be 2+ weeks for this to heal.

I was scolded for low Protein intake and not moving enough. I am doing my best now to get as much Protein as possible - I am not tolerating the sweetness of shakes so I am going to try unflavored egg white Protein powder in skim milk and hope that will get me closer to my goal of 70g of protein a day. Isn't that crazy!

I have a follow up in seven days for them to check on the incision and see my progress.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
