2 days post op burning pain in forearms

Recommended Posts

Hi I was sleeved 06-05, no gas pain, tolerable incision pain. Last night my forearms got really hot and they hurt, has any one else experienced this?

Yes, I did. My forearms and my chest both got very hot to the touch and were red. I showed it to the doctor and he explained it like this: "You had most your stomach cut out, and your body just figured that out. Now it's ramping up the metabolism to try and figure out where your stomach went and how to fix this." hehe

Basically I just kept an eye on my body temp and took my temp frequently. As long as I wasn't running a fever, I was told to let it play its course.

Thanks! I called my surgeon and the nurse advise me to put some ice packs for 20 minutes, they don't seem to help much. Did you do anything to help the pain?

Unfortunately I couldn't keep any pain meds down the first few days. My surgeon gave me these anti-nausea suppositories (I know, yuck, right?) that also would make me sleep. To me, sleeping through the pain was the best medicine.

I wish I could sleep ! I wake up every hour and a half and the pain is not letting me rest much. My pain med is also making me nauseous so I avoid taking it.

My breasts and chest got really red, almost purple. I thought I was bruised because of something during surgery but it died down after about day 3. The nurse thought it was weird and called the doctor but it turns out it wasn't a big deal.

My forearms are red and have an itchy rash. I've tried everything and can't get it to go away. I'm 2 weeks post op. strange???

You can get a rash from an allergic reaction. Maybe to the Protein. This happened to a sleeved friend of mine. As with every other medical question, check with your doctor.

That is where my gas migrated. Right to my forearms. They swelled up like sausages and hurt. It lasted about 3 days. When the pain got bad, I held them above my head for a bit and tried to keep them propped up above my heart.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
