Need a Scope - Possible Band Erosion

Recommended Posts

Well, I sure hope the news is good. How long have you had your band? Did you ever say if you actually have restriction?

Alex, this is the start of my second week of Medifast. Weekends are very difficult with me not eating. Last Saturday we had a party for my son's 24th birthday. I did all the cooking but did not taste anything.

Last Sunday, I participated in a walk for Pancreatic cancer (my mom died from it 2 weeks before Christmas in 2003) and after the walk we all went to a diner and I had 2 cups of coffee while everyone ate in front of me. At night my sister had a barbecue because my dad is up from Florida. I had nothing but Water and my Medifast.

I feel like I am on the outside looking in watching people eat.

ONce I am able to eat something I think I will be too afraid to.

Either I am going to eat too much (my biggest fear about eating)

or I will eat next to nothing.

I dream of a scrambled egg. How sad is that.

Last Friday I weighed in at 225.5 Today I weighed in at 217.5

Just hope I don't gain it back once I start to eat.

Maureen, I sympathize completely. I did a 12-week Optifast stint once, and during that time I was a bridesmaid at a wedding in Bermuda. Imagine sitting through the rehearsal dinner and the wedding itself without being able to eat OR drink! It was horrible. But I managed, because I knew it was temporary.

You're taking the best care of yourself you possibly can. On Tuesday you'll know what's what, and you can get back on the road to eating normally and WITHOUT PAIN. You will get there, and it will be easier than you think. Just have a little faith and be prepared to move ahead with the help of your doctors and your bandster friends. :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
