I don't have to do a preop diet but I am too. I'm afraid if I don't it'll be hard for me after surgery. Last week I did a shake every morning to prepare myself. This week I'm going to do 2 shakes a day (I think) then starting the 17th I'm going to try full liquid. What shakes are you using?

I'm June 25th too and have my Cardiac appt Monday. I am hoping they clear me... You are right. I don't think it will be real for me until they do. I start my preop diet Tuesday. I get 3 shakes, two Protein bars and a dinner of 5oz lean meat and two cups veggies.

I am really scared they won't clear me bc they just found on wed. That I have an irregular heartbeat...that's why my Cardiac appt is so close to my surgery.

Anyways good luck guys on the prop diet :D

Oh, that cardiac stress test is the worst! I had one years ago when I had a very bad tib/fib fracture and couldn't do the "normal" walking one. It's awful!

I had an echo with a IV that they put some isotope in it so they can see better. Results werent good so they did an angiogram and the arteries are not clogged so my heart problem is weight related so I was okayed for the surgery. The last item was the endoscopy 2 weeks ago and I have a hiatal hernia that I guess they can fix during surgery.

Now I wait for a surgery date. I wish they had given me a surgery date first because I wanted it in June, now he's booked for June. I'm not happy about that. I've told them since December that I wanted the surgery in June.

Now I wait...

Hey! I'm not required to do a preop diet. I put myself on a modified preop diet using shakes but found out during my support group they prefer me do high Protein low carb with food not a shakes.

That is great! I would love real food. Before my lap band I had the same as you. I did the phase 1 of the south beach diet. That worked well for me. PAT testing is done! My last app is an echocardiogram on Mon to clear me for surgery! It IS really getting real ... Lol

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
