Im having a HUGE problem with my doctor, she wont even join the fight with me to get payment for my Lapband Surgery because she says they'll turn me down because I have no major health problems, besides the fact of what runs in my family and my BMI being 36.9(202lbs) at 5'2 inches tall in height.

I Need A SUPPORTIVE DOCTOR,any one know any in the Cincinnati,Ohio area?so that I may have support while trying the insurance companies for payment to get the surgery?

You doctor really isn't the problem as much as the insurance coordinator (I would think). The thing is, they generally know what it takes to get approved and I think they wouldn't want to get your hopes up and/or waste their time if they know that there is no chance of approval.

I truly was shocked that I got approved, even though my bmi was 42, I had no health problems. I got a diagnosis of sleep apnea as a part of my approval process, but I had never had a problem with it. My doc's insurance coordinator was very good and thought I had a good chance from the beginning.

I will always sing the praises of Dr. Trace Curry and his staff here in Cincinnati. He's Dr. C on this web sight. You might want to talk to them.

My dr. is Dr. Allison Clarey in Dayton; my BMI is 37, I have no co-morbidities, and am waiting on approval in January. Talk with PattyJ at dr. Clarey's, they will work with you in writing letters to your insurance explaining the necessity to your health- GOOD LUCK

I would say find out who in your insurance network of doctors performs the surgery and start shopping around! You MUST be proactive in the fight. Also go to your HR person and find out what provisions or exclusions are in your INSURANCE SPD (Plan Document)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
