follow up dr visits and vitamins

Recommended Posts

I'm curious as to how many follow up doctors appointments most sleevers went to. I am coming up on my two month visit. I was not impressed by the first visit. I did not see the doctor but a P.A. I was weighed then for the next hour, she talked about her children and what I had in store raising teenagers! My husband took off work to go to this appointment with me and he was like, "was it really necessary to drive 3 hours for this?" I will keep my 2 month appointment because they will discuss lab work I had done at month one (and since I paid $200 for that lab work, I want the results!) But I am seriously thinking about not going to any more follow up appointments. What do you guys think? Also, anybody else having trouble getting all the Vitamins in? I try to really concentrate on the Multivitamins, but I slack off on the Calcium. I never got much calcium before surgery anyway and now I try to eat more cheese because of the Protein, so maybe I'm good?

I go every month for a doctor and NUT appointment. I love them and hope they never stop. They keep me motivated and the NUT is fantastic. We go over any and all food, Vitamin, etc. My surgery was 10/15/12 and I am down 127 pounds. I want to lose another 8 and then I start goal. I will continue seeing both the doctor and NUT every month.

I for one never drank milk. I say never. But I was told I have very dense bones. But over the years I ate a lot of ice cream so maybe that is why. I take my Calcium regularly and my blood work came back normal for calcium. Now if I had not taken it would it have come back normal. I don't know. Just keep track of whatever you are taking so if you are low at blood work time you will know what to do.

I keep seeing people mention NUT. What is that? I have seen that on several threads. I also wanted to say that I can see your frustration with the appointments. When you are not satisfied with your doctor or physician's assistant, you have a right to request for a different provider. When it comes to your time and your health, you have a right to receive quality service and not to have your time wasted on the provider talking about her personal life. I would have kindly stated that the purpose of my visit to accomplish a certain task. She literally took you and your husband's kindness for granted. I would ask for another person to attend to your case that is more professional. You as the consumer have a right to choose who you want manageing your health. I'm not referring to your insurance but the medical professionals that you have to deal with.

I hope this helps!! :-)

My surgeon is 4.5 hours away and I only see the NP for about 5 minutes. fter my last appointment I am wondering why bother, I can follow up locally with my PA. My bloodwork is fine and I have support from my NUT by phone or email when necessary.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
