I can only imagine how tough it is...my surgeon had no pre-op diet...but even post-op when I was on liquids for two weeks, I was hungry--truly hungry and not just head hunger...it gets better post-op when you can have soft foods and denser protein...just hang in there--in the long run, this will be a distant memory

My surgery date is tomorrow, June 3, but today is the first day on Clear Liquids. I'm with you guys...I'm hungry today! I've been trying to keep my mind off of it by cleaning my house...it's also keeping me from being nervous about the surgery. I also look at it as a preview of the days right after surgery.

@Abba 0604

Lucky you only had one day of the liquid diet but I never heard of just one day though. 3 days, 1 week, 2 weeks, mine was a week.

My surgeon uses Medifast, and the length of time you do the pre op diet is determined by your BMI. I am lucky that I only had to do one week -- I can't imagine doing this for 2. My surgery is tomorrow and for some reason, I'm not nervous -- go figure! I am a conversion from lap band, so there's about a 20% chance there will be too much scar tissue in my stomach to do the sleeve; I hope and pray that's not the case, but by this time tomorrow night I will know for sure!

@Tigerbelle -- you were hungry post op?? That's discouraging! I haven't heard anyone say that hunger was an issue after surgery.

@PainintheGlass -- good luck tomorrow!

Not everyone loses hunger after surgery...especially in the initial phase until you are cleared for puréed or soft foods. But everyone is different....

      Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

      I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
      I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

      I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
