Exercise and calorie intake :)

Recommended Posts

According to my doc I'm suppose to eat 800 calories a day till I reach goal and 1200 max to maintain once I get there.I have 50 pounds to goal. I don't see a combination of exercise and 800 calories a day working for me. When I exercise I like to do intense exercises like p90x or 1 hour on the treadmill but after surgery I have not exercised partly due to time and fear of fainting because I feel weak or lightheaded. I do move around allot more then before. What do you do? How many calories a day and how much exercise? Are you comfortable or tired? I have three young kids to take care of so I need energy/calories to get through my day :) I just joined an awesome gym so I'm pumped up but not sure about the calories I was thinking of increasing to 1000 on the days I exercise. any other thoughts would be appreciated

Thanks

Every program/doctor is different but for me I am 7 weeks 2 days post op and I have lost 38 pounds in that time. I am eating @ 1200 calories a day per my NUT's instructions. If I wanted to I could actually eat up to 1500 but I have not. This seems to be working for me, I am pleased with 7plus pounds a week :)

So here is where I am at. I am at the gym or running around the park 5-6 times a week. I have lost a total of 110lbs and I am 4 1/2 months out. I met with my doctor 2 weeks ago and told me I needed to get more Protein in do to how much I am working out. So they upped my daily Protein intake up from 100g-125g to 135g-145g. They also said my blood sugar is low and said to eat more fruit.< /p>

I also get light headed when standing up to fast. I chalk that up to the low blood sugar but not 100% on that. I have found that when I ate more than I normally did over the weekend I ended up losing 5lbs in 2-3 days like it was nothing.

Everyone is different and doctors want everyone to do something different. So its hard to say what to do and when to do it.

Good luck

I go to the gym Monday - Saturday, I do an hour of cardio and 30ish mins of strength. I am 7 1/2 months out and range between 800 and 900 calories a day. At first I was very worried about the same thing as I also have 3 young children and my husband is away with the military. I need to have enough energy to handle whatever may arise. The first month was a bit of a struggle, I actually did faint twice but it ended up have nothing to do with my calories. It was my Water intake and lack of carbs that was 100 percent to blame! Now I've been at it about 5 months and when I miss a day I feel so much more tired, working out has doubled my energy. Good luck on your journey

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
