New to the vertical sleeve! My original plan was to go lap band but after having my consultation with the surgeon yesterday he recommended me to go with the sleeve due to complications. I'm really excited to get the ball rolling. I'm making my appt today to see the psych and the dietician :) any positive insights would be greatly appreciated!

You won´t regret it. Life is so much easier with the sleeve. You can eat anything but in very small portions. The great thing is that you feel full and so you´re satisfied with what would just be an appatizer in the old days. So welcome to the sleevers lounge!

Hello my name is Tina, and I am new here also. I had my appointment with the surgeon and decided to do the sleeve. At first I wanted the band and reading all the complications that people was having and also the psych doctor also stated to go with the sleeve because he knew a doctor who had it done and changed to the sleeve. My paper work was submitted to the insurance company so just waiting for an approval

Thanks everyone! I have another question. Yesterday after I saw the surgeon I had to speak with the lady who handles all the paperwork. She told me that I needed a 3 month history from the PCP stating that I've tried dieting for 3 consecutive months. I asked doctor to write it but she only wrote it for 2 months. I may have to see my dr for 3 months in a row to talk about my weight and get documentation. But how do I go about seeing her just for my weight after I've seen the surgeon already? I'm confused

You can do both processes at the same time. Chances are, it will take you at least a month to get a date, so just keep in touch with you PCP and you'll be fine!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
