It's been days since I've tried a shake. I'm afraid of dehydration and ending up back in the hospital, but the nausea.. Even with zofran doesn't go away. It's clearly not as bad as it once was, but the thought of shakes just makes me want to get sick. What did others do to get through this phase? I keep telling myself it gets better.

How about forgoing the shakes for a while and drinking clear Proteins like Isopure? Or putting plain unflavored Protein Powder in your yogurt? How long ago did you have your surgery?

The Protein Shakes get old pretty quick. I hit that point where I was gagging on them. Special K makes a Protein Water mix like Crystal Light, I sipped on that and put the Protein Powder in/on anything I put in my mouth. If you can eat soft foods, try some cottage cheese or scrambled eggs. Get creative to get through this. After a few days off the shakes I added them back. I try to force one down over the course of a day. Just make sure you are getting your protein somehow or the fatigue will make the nausea seem like a walk in the park. GNC has a flavorless, clear protein that you can put in anything. I also used powdered skim milk in anything dairy based to boost the protein. Good luck and I hope you feel better.

Try unjury chicken Soup. That got me through a rough patch. Nice to have something that wasn't sweet. Try sipping your fluids. In the early days if I took in too much Fluid at once I would get nauseous. If you are not taking a PPI ask your doctor for a prescription. This also helps with nausea.

I was given an anti nausea patch to wear behind my ear...you might want to ask the dr bout that...they say your pain level makes the nausea worse...I told them as long as I dont move it doenst hurt they said but your body still hurts even if you are not really feeling it.

Well the nausea could be from not enough electrolytes calories or Protein. Have you tried Gatorade or something with electrolytes? You can always add a Protein bullet to it. I know the Proteins type is not optimum but something is better than nothing. Sip on that and see if it helps.

Good luck

Thanks guys! I did order some unflavored Protein to put in the things I can have. I'm not allowed cottage cheese yet. I can have yogurt and pudding. Canned or store broths just make me gag, but I have some homemade chicken broth that's going down easy. I really am pushing the fluids and walking and haven't felt the nausea since the last post! Yay! Hope it continues..

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
