Post Op hunger! I'm feeling like a failure! Help

Recommended Posts

I am having a difficult time not wanting to at least taste everything I see on tv or that the people are eating in my house. I did really well with my preop diet but my mentality had me in tears because I feel so left out at meal time. I'll be one week post op May 27 and I wanna eat. What helped you when you felt weak?

I am coming right behind you...

So, Sherita, what would you do if this guy you REALLY LIKED a LOT for a LONG time, and you finally kicked outa your house after he was mean and wrong to you for years, tried to come back?

You wand that BAS&^%d back?

No. Keep him out. Food's been no good for us. Fight, it get's easier... but only if you fight now.

Great analogy, I must be a glutton for punishment! I'm really trying, but I'm sure it's going to get harder before it gets easier.

Focus on your Water. Most of the time when we want food what we really need is water. If you sick of water try Unjury chicken Soup. It helps me through the rough Patches and it really does taste good. Your at the tough part, once you start on solid food it gets better. Just keep it up. You can get through this. I hope this helps.

sugar free Popsicles were there there for me on my days where I was weakest. Feels like chewing, but it helps to get my liquids in.

For me, it helps to make a plan. For example, one night, I had a small snack cup pudding. Throughout the day, when I felt "deprived," I just told myself I was having that pudding later. On Thursday, I told myself I was going to Starbucks for a skinny latte on Friday...made it easier to do well on Thurs because I had that "treat" planned.

Other than that, I'm trying to stay busy. Since we've been home, I've had a ton of work to do to get caught up, but we've also cleaned the garage and other stuff...just to be away from the food and out of the house helps.

I've got some sugar free popsicles too as for being busy around the house, I've got people who have to do that. I'm so busy at work that I'm trying to relax until I go back next week. Thanks

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
