Hey! Well I got sleeved yesterday morning. I got the go-ahead to start sipping Water today. Both times it has ended with me throwing it up. Any idea how long this phase will last? I'm hoping only a few days :)

I had really bad reflux/ vomitting the first couple

of days too. I feel your pain... it sucked. They told me it was because of swelling at the base of my esophagus. By day 3, things has pretty much subsided. I still have to drink slowly, but I'm on day 8 and each day is 100% better than the day before!!! Hang in there!!

Oh!!! And - CONGRATULATIONS!!! You're on your way!!!!!!!!

Thank you! That makes me feel a lot better! Thankfully I'm not in too much pain, because my liquid pain meds were the first thing I projectile vomited. Haha

I was sleeved on Tuesday and I still can't keep any Water down without feeling like I am going to vomit. I am still in the hospital & running a fever of 101... I guess you can say I am in the "buyers remorse" stage!!!

Have u tried drinking other things...lime adding a splash of low cal/sugar juice or a tiny bit of crystal lite? I am 7 months out and I am still unable to drink plain Water it makes me vomit. One of my favorites is the diet cran grape juice and fruit punch crystal lite although I can only stand up to half the packet. Also I still have to have my drinks ice cold once they get warm they upsety tummy and make me feel nauseous. You may have to experiment to find what works for you and be prepared that it may last more than a couple days and you need ur liquids

The first 5 days I was drinking out of a medicine cup that was 1 oz (30ml) and it was very difficult to drink all of that down. I also had a fever for the first 2 days until I started using the spirometer 15x per hour. Also I had to drink like a lady by only sipping ONLY when the liquid touched my lips.

One thing I noticed is if my drink was ice cold I couldn't drink it. It hurt way too bad. Have you tried warm tea? Not hot or anything. Just slightly warm?

Congrats on your sleeve!

They gave me anti-nausea meds in pre-op and then in my IV once I was knocked out.

Sent me home with a RX for them also.

Oh, man, I thought that said,"Splitting Up", a thread about divorce. I gotta get new glasses.

That tummy just got traumatized. I could barely drink a thimble full for a week. It gets better.

I'm worried I may have a fever, too. My chest and cheeks are so flushed and hot, but not my forehead. The doctor is coming by in about an hour so we'll see what he thinks

I had my surgery last Friday. I would vomit 20 minutes after they would give me the anti nausea Meds in my IV .... After the third time, I rejected the anti nausea meds and I was fine. Good luck :-)

The doc told me its because the metabolism surges up to try and heal your stomach once your body realizes its gone.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
