Lightweights in the house! Any more people with less to lose/less BMI's?

Recommended Posts

He really didn't say why' date=' but I'm guessing he doesn't want me to fall into the same mind set I did with the band. I ignored my health and loved being skinny and was willing to give my life for it. Down deep I knew I was dying, but being thin meant more. He doesn't want me near that again

Fortunately, it's different this time and I'm so into healthy .. I love it! Plus, I'm almost 56 so 130 is an ok weigh for an old lady ;)[/quote']

Gotcha!!! I could see how ppl fall into that trap. Would be a Kinda powerful feeling to be "SKINNY" after being obese all my life. But I really just wanna be healthy at this point. Happy_Healthy_Terrific....so happy for you that you have found a good place. Can't wait to find mine.

I'm 5'8 1/2 and around 247 lbs with a 39 BMI. I have two beautiful little girls who need a happy healthy mommy to chase them around and who can fit on the rides at Disneyland with them! And I'm so tired of being the fattest person in the room.

That's just a couple of reasons why I'm doing this. I have only told my mom, who will be travelling to Tijuana with me for support, and my awesome hubby. I'm scheduled for surgery on September 10th! I wish it was sooner, I hate to spend another summer being fat. But I've been overweight for most of my life, losing the same 50 lbs over and over so what's one more summer. Next summer will be EPIC!

I'm 5'2"

I had band surgery 5 times and was prohibited from any more surgery until healed and never to have band again.

My weight prior to lapband was 160 lbs

I got down to 104 because any food I managed to eat came back up. I didn't digest anything. I would even vomit if I swallowed my own saliva. The band sucked the life out of me. More on my profile story.

I'm happy and healthy now and slowly getting to goal. Last week dr told me not to set my goal at 125 so I raised it to 130.

Wait did I read this right? You had band surgery 5 TIMES?!?!?!?

I thought I'd chime in here. I am 5'2" and my highest weight was between 205 and 210. I have struggled with my weight for all of my adult life (and some as a teenager). Anyway, I would always lose weight, but I'd regain what I'd lost plus more. I lost over 20 lbs prior to surgery on 1/18/13 and I am happy to say that today, barely 5 months after surgery, I weigh 134.2. I am at a healthy bmi for the first time in over 15 years. When I did hit a healthy bmi 15 years ago it was a huge struggle to get there and I didn't stay there long. I am really happy with the outcome of my surgery. I am losing really slowly now, but can't complain about it. I am in size 6s and don't really have too much more to lose. Ultimately, I think I'd like to end up between 120-125, but we'll see. I have all of my stats in my signature, but I know everyone can't see them if you are using the app, so I am reposting it in the body of this. Highest weight: 205

Weight on DOS 1/18/2013: 179 (-26)

1 month 2/18/13: 161.4 (-17.6) (-43.6 total)

2 months 3/18/13: 154.4 (-7). (-50.6 total)

3 months 4/18/13: 148.6 (-5.8) (-56.4 total)

4 months 5/18/13: 141.8 (-6.8) (-63.2 total)

5 months 6/18/13: 135.6 (-6.2) (-69.4 total)

Goal #1: 163 lbs. (no longer obese, just overweight 29.8 bmi) Reached 2/17/2013!

Goal #2: 136 lbs. (normal bmi - 24.9 bmi) reached 6/5/2013

Goal #3: 125lbs. (personal goal - 22.9 bmi)

Goal #4: 115 lbs (dream goal - 21 bmi)

I'm having the surgery for the same main reasons as you are! And I also only told my mother and hubster. And am traveling to TJ, MX with my mom too. That's so uncanny lol. :)

Sisters from another mister maybe...lol. I chose to go with Dr. Valenzuela and Dr. Cabrera. I was seriously considering using Dr. Diaz for a while because he does the single incision procedure. But it's a fairly new procedure so I'm not quite comfortable going that route. Oh well, what's a few more battle scars right! ;).

I hope everything goes smoothly for you. I'd love to hear about your experience when your feeling up to it.. Keep in touch!

Right! I would rather add a few more teeny tiny scars to my stretch mark covered belly than "hope" the doctor doesn't knock my liver right out of my body trying to maneuver 5-7 instruments/tools through "one" single incision.....I mean.....it's supposed to be smaller than the diameter of my belly button! EXCUSE ME! You're NOT getting THAT much stuff, PLUS the instrument to keep the liver out of the way into my belly button! LOL!

Anywho.....I'll definitely keep updating on here but I also have a blog if you're interested. (destinationpurehealth.blogspot.com) It's fairly new but I'll be posting on there very frequently and all of my stats and updates pre and post-op will be on there too. I'm also planning on adding some vlogs on there also, just as soon as I learn how. But the latest will be surgery day because there is no way I'm missing an opportunity to vlog THAT ENTIRE EXPERIENCE! lol. Wish I could take the camera in the surgery room with me.......I don't think Dr. Cabrera would be too happy with that though lol. Meh.....I'll work on em... ;)

So I'm considered a lightweight....yea....thats me LOL! At 32 BMI I'm technically lightweight. I have been at 35 BMI for the last several years or so and have actually managed to lose a bit on a low carb/high protein/mod fat/low cal/sugar free (paleo/primal) lifestyle, but am as usual having a very hard time keeping it off consistantly. It keeps creeping up.

Was just wondering if there were anymore people on here with about 100lbs or less to lose, or otherwise considered lightweight comparatively. Any who've had the procedure? If you've had the procedure, how much have you been losing? What's your progress, and how're you feeling about the procedure so far?

Thought I'd make a thread for us that have less to lose than the SMB or even the MB people on here. So we can share our experiences and just chill.

B)

BTW, thought I'd add. Everyone is welcome! All sizes! All opinions are valued here! ;)

I guess maybe I was considered a lightweight. I went into this thinking 50 - 55 lbs would be wonderful, it happened so quickly, I knew I had underestimated what I could do with this surgery. I've lost between 82 and 84 lbs, depending on the day. Great decision, great results. I had my three year check up today, surgery was June 10, 2010.

Sadly, yes.

1. Banded in MX

2. Slipped band fixed in US

3. Removal of band from around stomach (but left in for future rebanding) in US

4. Rebanded in MX

5. removal of band in US

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
