Any non yoyo dieters?

Recommended Posts

I didn't yoyo diet I just have a hard time losing. It seems like everyone here is a yoyo dieter. The most I have lost is 10/15 pounds.

I wasn't exactly a yoyo dieter. I lost a good amount of weight a couple of times over the past 30 yrs. The weight came back after having children. I've been through having children for a while now and dieting attempts were mostly futile. I got older and just really didn't care and lacked the ambition to embark on another diet.

Then one day I found myself with the means to have the sleeve. I did it, am now on a permanent diet that will continue whether I like it or not because my new stomach just will not hold much food.< /p>

It was a means of self discipline on my part and it's working out pretty good so far.

I did quite of bit of yo-yo dieting in my life. I have lost 50-100lbs several times in my life but always gained it back plus more.

Well I (((sadly))) was a yo-yo dieter and I think it is terribly hard on our metabolism to be the yo-yo type.

My husband (who is 2 years post-op with the sleeve, I'm 2.5 years) was not a yo-yo dieter before the sleeve and he seems to be able to not only EAT more than I can (and not gain weight) but he seems to have an easier time maintaining his loss.

Could just be that he is a man tho... :P

I was a yoyo dieter and it sucked because I felt like everyone knew how things were going in my life based on my weight. I'd stop dieting when stressed and then gain weight back. Ugh, yoyoing is the WORST.

When were you sleeved?? I'm with you on this. Sliw metabolism and bad genes runs with me. Not an excuse but VERY true. I've always had a hard time losing and now that I'm sleeved I'm still having to watch every piece of food I put into my mouth. I don't lose if I eat carbs...Even if its just 300-400 calories a day. So soft foods have been hard on me. I basically stick to Protein shakes all day. I'm 10 days out.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
