Sleeved 5/13 and doing well. Starting weight 265, surgery day weight 255, left hospital on 5/15 weighing 266 (thanks IV fluids), today I weighed 250. Technically I've lost 16 lbs since leaving the hospital but only 5 lbs from surgery date weight. I can't help but feel a little disappointed especially after I see all these gigantic weight losses from everyone else. Looks like I'll just be a slow loser.

I've been dizzy for the last few days but I wonder if its because I've done nothing but lay in my bed for 3 days. I feel better today after I forced myself to take a few walks through the neighborhood. I have also found that milk/dairy is not agreeing with me so I've had to find some other alternatives (almond milk and soy Creamer for coffee).

Otherwise I am doing pretty well. So glad to see everyone else doing well too!

Im not found of milk/dairy either which is unusual for me as well. I can only stomach the 1 kind of Protein drink. And Ii bet your weight will begin to fall off once you get to feeling better!! So dont get disappointed you just had it done last week. I think some (not all) of these ladies might be including their pre op weight they loss too...?

I was sleeved on May 6th, the first 2 weeks were hard for me I had a sinuses infection going into surgery and it really got bad after. My recovery would have been a lot better if not for that infection. I am in my 3rd week and everyday is better and better, down 19 lbs so far. Going to start exercising next week want to work on my skin firming.

Eating and drinking in small amounts is key, i over did it and wow up it came, I never realized how i swallowed my food and i ate too fast. The sleeve is teaching me to be slow and chew!!

I was very tired the first 2 weeks, but this week week 3 I have more energy.

I just posed about this earlier so are the New whey Protein tubes ok...someone was telling me bc they are collagen based we shouldn't have them??? I bought like 2 to try and i like them was hoping i could use these

The problem with collegen-based Protein Shots is that the collegen is an incomplete Protein - the various amino acids needed to process the protein for our bodies are not there in sufficient amounts, if at all, so really you're not getting any significant protein from the shots that your body can use.

A lot of these protein shots add a little whey or casein to their ingredients so they can claim to be whey protein or casein protein. However, if the majority of the protein is collagen (ie, it's the first protein in the ingredient list), it's still not giving you more than a few grams of useful protein, if that.

I've heard that there's one protein shot out there which is okay. I think it's called Yes, Whey. I haven't personally tried it or looked at the ingredient list, but it was recommended to me by a nutritionist as one that is not a collegen based protein shot.

Just be careful and do your research. I'd hate for any of us to end up protein deficient while thinking we were getting enough!

Didn't want to be one of those people moaning about "only" losing 10 lbs since surgery on the 7th (have only lost 2 lbs in the last week) but here I am. Anyway...how in the heck does anyone get all their Protein in??? I'm lucky to get 40 grams and can only eat about 300 calories a day. I'm afraid this is harming my weight loss, but I'm grateful because I feel good (a little tired), had a completely easy recovery, been walking and getting my fluids in.

I had my sleeve done on May 14th. Today the liquids seemed to be going down easier and I was able to drink twice as much liquid. My doctor has me walking 300 steps 3 times daily. I can do it' date=' but feel very week and get briefly dizzy at times.[/quote']

My doctor had me mix full scoop/serving of Protein in 4 or 5 oz of Water or milk. It helps tremendously. I drink 3 a day.

Where do you get your Protein from? I only see chocolate' date=' strawberry and vanilla.[/quote']

I use vanilla- the smoothie king gladiator mix... Goes well blended with a variety of fruits

I just ordered unflavored Isopure Protein Powder, since the Protein numbers were so good in it. I hope it doesn't taste terrible. I plan to use it for mixing. I've been using prepared shakes so far. I had my sleeve done on May 14. Just got on the scale and have lost 13 lbs since surgery! Down 37 lbs since my surgery consult date. This is all so surreal!! I'm still very weak, but can walk 600 steps if I take it slow. Have been doing this twice a day. What can we do about this awful ketosis breath????? I would get some chewing gum, but I understand this will result in increased gas.

Hello' date='

I was sleeved May 9th - down 15lbs already!!! From 200lbs 5'6 38 yr old female

The second week is easier... hang in there.

My energy is double, mind is clear and functioning great (for me - lol) since off caffiene and junk food. Im walking 1-2 miles per day. Found "oh yeah milkshakes" and i love them they have 32 gr Protein each. Makes it easier to reach the protien goal daily.

Srm[/quote']

What are "oh yeah milkshakes"??

Hey - when you are no/low carb and high protein' date=' you are in ketosis (which means you are burning fat). It's a good sign, actually, and it WILL go away, but it might take a few weeks. look up "ketosis breath" if you want more details about it.

Mine passed after about 2 weeks. Gum helps, if you can have it, but so does Biotene dry mouth mouth wash and/or biotene mouth spray. I also ended up brushing my teeth 2 or 3 extra times a day when it was super bad! Also, make sure you're getting enough Water, that helps it quite a bit as well. :)

Good luck, guys![/quote']

Wow! Your post sounds extremely familiar to a post I made on another forum.!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
