Had to chime in on this one.... I to have been struggling with this thinking off and on. Mostly, on when the scale has stalled or only reads a 1 lbs loss that week. However, I will never forget the surgeon telling me the expectations for this surgery. She said: Most sleeved folks lose 50 to 70 %. Of their excess body wieght after "2 years" I was floored I said 2 years??? What???? Most of us are way ahead of the expected mark if we really stop and consider the numbers! Anyway, that is how I get through the tough "mental times".

Honestly, I do not know if I will ever understand the "why's" ..... I hope you all find the answers you are looking for.... Best wishes" Tina

I would say yes' date=' but do work up to any changes you want to make. It has taken me months to go from 1100 calories to an average of 1600 calories. Likewise I have also worked my way up from 125 grams Protein to 170 grams. This is 684 calories for 170 grams of Protein. The rest of the calories come from good carbs and good fats along with vegetables. As you know I am also fairly active. You need to include your fitness levels when determining caloric intake. I basically eat every 2-3 hours about 200 (sometimes more sometimes less) calories giving me about 1600 calories.[/quote']

Aw man, you didn't answer me! (Temper tantrum). I think my calculator I found was on drugs for an answer of 2,500 calories. So. Now what? I'll try another one.

See that's what I've been doing the last couple of weeks allowing myself time! I said a year is when I will say if I'm doing well or not.

I won't then, garsh!! Lol. Don't want to anyway!!

Ok. Mfp is putting me At 1200 calories a day when I entered that I'm lightly active and want to lose 2 lbs a week.

I think lightly active is correct anyway. Their options are strange. No option for "I burn ____ a day".

Sorry Amy, I spent my energy on a response to Laura and forgot about your question above it. :) do not feel you need to give up your shakes if you desire them. I love my daily Protein shakes and use (abuse??) them to my advantage!

2500 may be correct for you depending on your inputs. mine is high also. There is little way I can eat enough real food to hit my targets when striving for BMR equilibrium. I am probably still way under as a fairly active guy. 1 hour of quality workout MAX, most of the time 30 minutes. However, know that each session is high quality and focused for max returns, no boring workouts here. I have spent the last 3 months slowly increasing calories, but I still have more to go. I have to be careful about it because it is a constant balancing act. Too little and the BMR suffers. Too much and you start to store. Presently I believe I am in a sort of sweet spot but do feel I am going to need to eat more once my transformation program kicks into high gear. I am learning along the way. :) maybe I will need to eat those 400 calorie metrx bars. My wife always talks me down from buying them every time I pick one up at the store :)

I use shakes to help fill in calories and Protein during the day. I won't bore you with all the details (for that, see prior threads), but will say I drink up to 3 shakes a day. The first shake when I wake is more out of convenience. I do not really have the time to make something nor have the time to spend eating it as work beckons at 6 am. The second shake is to recover from my training or running. The 3rd shake is to satisfy my BMR during the night. After all, we want to be burning fat and building muscles around the clock, even when sleeping. If you take a shake at bed time, make sure it is a long acting protein like casein. I always find real measurable results in the morning whenever I take that last bedtime shake.

Ha! Is that you eating the little frosting pieces off the edge of the cake? I would have totally done that if I was crazed for some cake which I have definitely been guilty of in the past. :) just ribbin you a little between friends.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
