I am a week away from surgery, getting excited! My surgeon is Dr. Rodriguez, surgery day is May 23rd. No one knows except hubby. He works away, but is coming with me. We will meet in Dallas then fly out to San Diego. Questions, 1) will I be able to drive myself home from airport 5 days after surgery? 2) How long does it take for surgery sites to heal?. Btw airport is very small and is only 15 miles away from home. No traffic mostly rural roads. Thanks for your help

I was driving four days out, so if you do not have any complications you should be good, just not when your on pain medicine. My incision sites took about 6 weeks to heal completely. this is when my doc let me swim, get in the bathtub etc. Hope this helps! Good luck to you!

You should be able to drive yourself that far 5 days out unless you're on pain meds. I drove myself home from about 30 miles away two days after surgery on fairly busy roads, although they were all pretty straight roads. My surgery sites took about six weeks for the last one to heal completely over. The site where my drain was took the longest to heal and I wasn't allowed to swim or tub bathe until that was done. Good luck!! :)

You can drive as long as you have been off pain meds for 48 hours. As far as the incisions healing, mine took about a month before they were fully healed and the scabs gone. Good luck to you!!

I might suggest an abdominal pillow to go between you and the seat belt. Besides that, you should be fine (as long as you're off pain meds like everyone else said).

I did that after my gallbladder surgery. I didn't even think about the fact i had taken two Tylenol 3's and took my son to my parents house for a visit ( they live about 20 miles from us). Wow that was strange. Even though i could see on the speedometer that i was going 55 it felt and looked like the outside was just barely crawling by, like it was in slow motion. Very crazy. It was then i realized "oh crap! i shouldn't be driving!' but i was nearly to my parents house by then. It was an interesting experience, but one i don't recommend!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
