Anyone not struggled with weight their whole life?

Recommended Posts

I was always thin. I had a 9 lb baby gained 40 lbs and the next day zipped up my size 4/5 like nothing! I did not start to gain weight until I developed several medical problems. Due to all the medical problems I ended up taking 27 pills a day (all prescribed) and started to gain weight. Since 1997 I went from size 8 to 14 in 16 years. I am 6 mos post op and now wearing a loose 6! I did this surgery to get me off all my meds. I was taking prednisone daily for 16 years and I needed to take control of my body. After going to Stanford and speaking to doctors they assured me that my medication would drop and they have! Currently taking 7 but 3 will be dropped next month. Best thing I could have done for family and myself :)

My weight struggles didn't start until I got on the depo shot when I was about 15yo. I never had weight problems before then and I quickly packed on 40+ pounds ending up around 188 pounds. That's when my weight struggle started and the constant yo yo dieting. I'm 28 now so my weight struggles have been about half my life span. On the bright side if I hadn't got on depo I may of ended up pregnant. I wish I would of got on the pill that time but my mom insisted on us getting depo and thats when I turned into a hippo :)

Only since first child born. Was a normal size kid, I grew up in the 70`s and kids were active and played outside all day.

I only began to struggle with weight when I reached adulthood. I was never an overweight child. Clearly it was the transition from having meals made for me by a diligent mother, to having to choose meals for myself that did me in. My husband is a thin guy with a high metabolism, and since I generally cook for both of us I began to eat the same things he wanted to eat. To put it simply: carbs, carbs and more carbs!

I have struggled with my weight my entire life. I was always the heaviest in all of my classes. I have lost 60-100lbs several times in my life, but always gained my loss plus more back. I finally got tired of my weight after spending 1 month in the hospital after emergency neurosurgery/spinal surgery, and a total and partial knee replacement.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
