On average how much weight does everyone need to lose?

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I am new to this board and am wondering how much weight people need to lose or have lost. I would like to lose 160-170 lbs, I am hoping this is the right surgery for me. I am not sure how successful people are with that kind of weight loss with the sleeve. Anyway-thanks for taking the time to read my question.

Well, if you go by my excess weight according to BMI charts, I needed to lose 153 lbs. According to my doctor, he will be happy with 142 lbs lost. I am going for my doc's recommendation and seeing how I feel then, maybe lose more if I feel like it.

Charts say I should lose about 130 pounds. I lost weight before and felt GREAT weighing 175 pounds. So, if I go by that, I need to lose about 85-90 pounds. 100 would be awesome but I will be very happy with 80-100.

I think the avg for everyone here is between 100 to 200 , but there are many above and below that. Like ebonisekim said its up to the person. The mind is what makes you successful. The sleeve definitely helps, but you have want to do the work and change your lifestyle to get there.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
