Walking how much are yall doing

Recommended Posts

I'm 5 days post op and I'm trying to walk but it hurts like hell and I get so so tired. After I just want to crawl into bed. How long and how often are y'all walking. I only get 3 walks in a day.

I'm 4 days post-op and I have been walking 2-3 times per day for about 10-15 mins each walk. Anything more tires me out too much. I know that recovery takes some time and I know that each day I will feel a little stronger than the day before. In a couple of weeks I figure I'll be moving along quite well...

I was in the hospital for two days post op and I walked for about 5 minutes every 90 minutes or so while I was awake.

For the next week after that, I watched a LOT of TV and walked for 5 minutes in between each show. I also did point and flex exercises with my legs..The threat of DVT petrified me.

I walk three times a day for about 15 minutes. Today I walked around the mall for an hour to help my daughter find prom shoes and I knew I over did it. Won't do that again.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
